i'll do a reblog with their ethnicities :3
I can’t imagine how Leo must’ve felt growing up. Demanding to have sister wives was absolutely suppressing their true identity. Imagine how many fundies feel this way but aren’t able to express their feelings. And knowing how Kody is, this must’ve taken a long time to come out.
Agreed!! I think it's very telling that Leon was the only Brown kid that was insistent on practicing plural marriage someday, and I think (in addition to identity suppression like you mentioned) it's because at the time it was the only non-traditional, long term partner option they were afforded. Plural marriage would've given them male and female long term relationships and also give them a lot of personal space from a cis male partner eventually, at least compared to monogamy. It makes me wonder how many women who enthusiastically participate in fundamentalist mormon polygamy are in the same boat.
Either way I hope Leo finds freedom in leaning more about themselves, and I'm glad they had parents that were *just* liberal enough to allow them to get here. It's a really great example of how much secular exposure means for kids of uber fundamentalists of any religion.
Leo Brown
I’m just gonna drop these beauties here, and run back to their child sized forms, and get ready to fangirl over another set of twins born in game.
Cross eyed toddlers are the best kind of toddlers.
what’s your ocs’ idea of a “fancy dinner”? (an actual fancy restaurant, olive garden, etc)
Luka: anything that involves sitting at a table and having a waiter come over and ask what you want
****: anything that costs over £100 for their immediate family to eat (there are 8 of then)
Leo: actual fancy restaraunt
Mizuki: her mother is rich asf so like. at least 15 people at the table (most of them her mother's age or older), caterers in fancy suits bringing u shit, she has to try her hardest to not spill anything on herself bcz she wasnt allowed to wear anything that cost under £5k, she probably isnt supposed to talk, if she didnt take a plane there half the other people there did (she hates it)
Do you think Meris beliefs or feelings towards God / religion have changed now? Obviously i am assuming due to her religion, her hopes for herself would be lots of children and for Mariah also to marry and have lots of children too (possibly in a polygamous relationship too). Instead she only had 1 child who was a lesbian and is now trans. Whereas her sister wives had lots of children and are now grandparents. Or do you think Meri is happy that her child is free and who they want to be.
Edit: I didn't catch this the first time around and also made this mistake in my answer bc it's so new, but please refer to Leo Brown by their correct name/pronouns in the future!!!!!!
It's definitely Mormon Wednesday here at Spurgie Cousin lol
I think that's really hard to speculate on tbh. My guess just from watching her on the show and knowing what I do about the Browns would be that she'd take the perspective that it's all God's plan for her. I was rewatching a few old episodes of SW lately and I realized that Meri actually had quite a few opportunities to try for another kid in the earlier seasons and actively chose not to........Kody pushed for IVF a few times, and Robyn infamously offered to surrogate and kept that invitation open-ended, but Meri refused. So I don't think she's as desperate for more kids as a lot of people make her out to be, I think she's made peace with her situation in that area as much as she can.
I think when Leo started getting involved in the LGBTQ+ community they were pretty insistent that either their family accept it or get lost. And to her credit, I think after Meri got over the initial shock she took the position of supporting Leo and Audrey no matter what, so it seems to me that she's made peace with that part of her life too.
One of the reasons I think she's so insistent on staying with Kody is that in the afterlife (and if you've been fairly good) fundie Mormons will live eternally with their entire families, sister wives, their children, their extended families, etc. It's possible that Meri feels she'll lose that if she gives up on her relationship because I can imagine that's a very comforting feeling during rough times in her life (which she's had a few). What she believes will happen to Leon in that sense definitely interests me, I have no idea how she reconciles that and all Mormonism's homophobia.
