HUMANS 3.06
me watching Humans, and every time Leo (Colin) appears on screen he’s either injured or on the brink of death or going through something
me, with a twinkle in my eyes and a besotted smile on my face, completely ignoring the critical state he’s in: oh. he’s so beautiful
Humans | Season 1 Episode 2
JUST WATCHED THIS SCENE AND IM ABOUT TO RUN THROUGH A FUCKING WALL
Colin Morgan hyperfixation bender update: I am loooving his character Leo Elster in the show Humans (2015). he’s tortured! he’s protective of his family! he’s a cyborg and makes noises when he gets plugged in that make me rewind a few times... probably my number two role after Merlin for him at the moment.
I think it's so interesting that Colin Morgan has played two characters who vary so widely when it comes to destiny
Merlin has destiny thrust upon him, he tries to change it but just knowing it leads to it being played out. Then he follows it and uses it as his last bit of hope when he's questioning why he's doing all of this
Leo Elster from Humans denies that there is such a thing as fate, denies that fate has decided they weren't a family. "No, there's no such thing as fate. Nothing's decided." He stays optimistic at first and tries everything to get everyone together. Until he faces failure. He has failed. So, no, they aren't a family after all
They aren't too different from each other in that regard
Colin Morgan in season 1 of Humans I want you.
(Timelapse below)
Title: Leo Elster’s age in “Humans” (the tv series)
Leo Elster is very likely younger than most people originally thought.
Honestly, I really don't think he's in his early twenties, like most of the fandom claims.
One of Leo's digitized memories shows the synths celebrating his birthday, and his cake appears to have nine candles on it. 🎂
What's more interesting is that all of the synths, (including Max), are sitting at the table in this memory.
If there are nine candles, that would make Leo roughly 18 years old in season one.
Leo couldn't really be much older than that, because we know Niska is nine years old in season one and Max is younger than Niska.
So if Max is already present in Leo's birthday memory, that memory has to take place when Leo is still fairly young.
And we already know that Leo drowned and was clinically dead when he was thirteen. After which David Elster committed suicide and Leo went on the run with the synths.
So when you put all of that together, it seems like Leo has to be around 18 or 17 years old during season one, rather than being in his early twenties like a lot of people have assumed.
• Leo is either 18 or 17 years old in season one, depending on how many candles are actually on the birthday cake. And how soon before the birthday Max was created. 🕯️
I think part of the reason people assume he's older is simply because of how his character looks.
However, Leo had been on the run from the government since he was thirteen and had spent years living on the fringes of society. He was essentially "living rough", so it makes sense that he looked older and more worn down physically than he actually was.
And honestly, his character looked noticeably younger once he shaved and took off some of the layers of clothing that he'd worn when living on the streets.
His appearance in those scenes when he's in the Hawkins home makes it much easier to see that he really could have been only 18 or 17.
Albeit one who had a rough life.
(Ignore Colin Morgan's age when he filmed this. This post is about the character).
