History lesson 1960s

Alright no muse specified so I’m covering the Narovas, Plyussas and Saarilinnas. Luna up top, everyone else under the cut.

The sixties were just a part of a bad time for the Narvics. Narova and Plyussa had both been dissolved in 1949 in the aftermath of WWII.

Luna likely took it the hardest. She barely held on during the fifties, when she had lost her fiancé, Friedrich Zohlansky, East Prussia, to Soviet brainwashing in the 40s and her Perdita killed in 1951 right when they had allowed themselves to find peace together in their situation, when Luna had allowed herself to love without fear of pain.

The fifties marked the beginning of Lunas descent to madness, the sixties were a continuation of that spiral of depression and denial, a belief that she could in fact change things, save her loved ones, raise her homeland from the ashes. She had withdrawn from everyone, became obsessed with the idea that she could use old Narovian magic to bring Perdita back from the dead. And not just her, but the children from past marriages, some of whom that never even got a chance at life. Performing old rituals that were long forbidden, using them as an excuse to kill Soviets whenever she had the chance. Fighting like hell the rare occasions she was forced into the presence of any of the Russian personifications. She became cold, truly heartless almost. Focused on her goals, and on the idea that she could become a true master of the power she wielded through the ancient spirits, perfect the old magic, do what the original Narvii were too afraid to. Luna didn’t have anything else to lose, she was willing to sacrifice it all, not giving a damn for her own well being, just that of her family’s. Even as she was turning human as the other Narovas and Plyussas were.

Leon never caved in to the new rules that were forced onto him, not when Narova was finally forced to surrender after its capital had been sieged, not when the war ended, not when his country was dissolved by a pen stroke. He was convinced that the Soviets, Ivan specifically, had done something to his sister, that she was captured or worse. He was nearly driven mad being separated from his family like he was. His children, specifically the personifications of Naantií and 1p Katínsh, were the only thing that kept him grounded, kept him from waging a one-man war against Russia to save his siblings and son.

As previously mentioned, Perdita had been shot in 1951. She was buried six feet under in the sixties, not to return until the establishment of the Republic of Narova in the early 2000s.

Draven, the 2p nyo of Narova was struggling to stay sane, keep his grip on reality, as he was quickly forced to work on Soviet scientific projects, the life of his son Aiden threatened if he refused to cooperate. So once again he donned a lab coat and tried not to think too much about the ramifications of his research or what would be done with it, devastated by the loss of his sister.

Saarilinna remained under martial law well into the mid-seventies. Because of a perceived danger had been isolated early on from the other personifications of Saarilinna in the initial occupation, only spending a few years in the fifties in the same facility as them before being moved to a Soviet military prison where he was treated like a traitor to a country he had, and would, never swear allegiance to. It’s something that had further dulled the cold look in his eyes that remains to this day.

Vadoma and Ion were under similar circumstances, kept under strict supervision by the KGB even after their release from a Soviet prison in 1964. They spent that first half of the decade listening to each other’s screams through all too thin cell walls, never actually able to see one another, see what was being done. All because of a suspicion they, to include Bastian and Sasha, were involved in Narovian nationalist groups, carrying on their old habits of defending democracy with their people.

Sasha was never ‘released’ from Soviet military custody. She broke out in 1950, going in and out of custody for never more than a few days at a time. Until she was permanently recaptured in 1968 after she had discovered her daughter had been killed by the Soviet government for conspiracy and had, in a fit of maternal rage, attempted to kill the officers responsible for the order, only to be quickly overpowered and sent to the same facility as her twin brother, so her and Bastian could once again experience what Vadoma and Ion had.

The Plyussas had once again began to turn human, dissolved and firmly under Russian control, their capital destroyed. All four of them had been forced to live in Moscow.

Gabrielle and Aiden, the 2ps of Plyussa, had been forced to live with their Russian parents, Viktor and Sonja respectively. While they were subject to less physical abuse, they spent the first few decades subject to constant psychological abuse and manipulation, barely holding onto their Plyussian identities.

Ashër always refused to let the Russian government keep him down, always fighting back against his imprisoners to the point he was being forced to participate in underground fight rings as part of an effort to beat his spirit out of him and (hopefully) get rid of him altogether. The waves of illness he was experiencing during those days wasn’t helping anything either. That illness would only worsen….

Raíchöl…. She was hardly allowed outside Moscow after Plyussas dissolution. Too weak to really fight back like Ash and Aiden did. Almost broken down by stress and fear from living under Russian rule, from having no idea what happened to her mother or father figure. Something that continued when Arthur had reached out to her, offering assistance and the return of Plyussas and Narovas independence in exchange for her assistance to the British government, serving as a sort of spy in Russia for Britain. An offer she felt she didn’t have any choice but to accept. Leading to her doing things she never thought she would, killing up and coming politicians and stealing documents to hand over to Arthur. All while being told that she was helping, that she was doing good.
