“No offense, but I can’t figure out how you can stand working on a train,” Patrick said with a sigh as he took his flash out of the inside pocket of his jacket, took a sip, then held it out in Leona’s direction.
He wasn’t really being fair to her. There wasn’t anything wrong with a job that involved trains or anything like that, he was just touchy about it considering the time his dad spent working on the tracks and he held an odd mix of respect for people that did that work and disdain for the idea of doing it himself. It symbolized something to him that Patrick didn’t always care for, no reason to take that out on Leona.
“I’m being an asshole tonight,” He drawled, letting his head lull to one side so he could look at Leona’s face better. “I’m sorry about that. Give me something better to complain about, won’t you? What bad news have you heard lately?” @leonapodmore
