Congratulations Leo, long overdue!

To my shame I haven’t kept my Tumblr page for my illustration and design work updated with new work for well over a year! - Whilst I have periodically been posting personal illustration work on my Instagram account. However we are now well into 2016 and I’m going to try and be a bit more pro-active across social media for the rest of this year and into the future.

Last night as a cool down from my other design work I put together this quick study of Leo. I was so happy that he finally won the Best Actor gong at the Oscars - long overdue and his performance in ‘The Revenant’ was a masterclass in an actor being enveloped by a role. He’s been one of my favourite actors for a long time now and I’ve loved pretty much everything he’s done post ‘Titanic’.

The Illustration took about three hours from start to finish using some photo reference to help put it together - I wanted to capture the happiness DiCaprio must of felt to finally be recognised for his craft by his piers but also the confidence of an actor who will continue to seek out and produce films that are challenging to both himself and the viewing audience.
