It was nearly noon. Lena was late for brunch plans with a friend and ran out the door ten minutes after waking up in her clothes and makeup from last night. It wasn’t her best look, but she couldn’t be the only hungover person at brunch. Wasn’t brunch for last night’s hangover? The menu even had a hangover shot, which she definitely ordered after she strolled into the restaurant five minutes late. “Sorry,” She went on to apologize to her friend. “I had a rough night last night.” It went without saying.

"Excuse me,” he called out, a little nervous to be asking for a stranger’s help, but his inability to settle on a bottle was getting the best of him. “Do you mind helping me out for a second? I’d ask a worker, but I feel like they’ll try and talk me into both bottles and that’s just not necessary.” Stepping aside, Bennett nodded towards the end display that held two different kinds of expensive scotch. “I’m looking to get a gift for someone I work with and he’s got expensive taste. I’ve been looking at one of these bottles, but I’m not sure which I like more. This one seems nicer,” he explained, pointing towards the bottle on the right, “but the other is a bit more expensive, which leads me to believe it might be better? Basically, I need to know if you think it’s worth the extra money or if I should just go with the nicer bottle and smaller price tag?”

“Well, well -- and I was wondering where you’ve been hiding.” It wasn’t hard to spot those familiar curls from miles away, and given Ingrid was working in the area throughout the day, it was only a matter of time before she’d run into him. “Haven’t seen you in a while, Leo. I’ll be devastated if you don’t at least pretend to have missed me.” she teased, a bright smile covering her features. Working at the nightclub only during weekends now, the nights were usually too busy to have a proper conversation. “How are you? Are you off somewhere?”

"Okay, so, it’s none of my business, but I didn’t know that you and Mr. Tattoo Artist made things official. What happened to him not being close enough to his retirement plan?” She assumed that things had changed and feelings had shifted his thoughts, but she was curious and wanted a chance to catch up with him. “By the way, he asked me what we’d talked about when it came to him. Don’t worry, I left that retirement plan thing out. He’s cute though, and he’s nice. I think I met him once before, but I can’t be certain.” Well, she’d been there for his roommate and in all fairness, she’d ghosted from their shared apartment as quickly as one possibly could. “Anyway, he’s going to do a tattoo for me.”
