“He’s alright. Those kids have a memory worthy of a goldfish. The embarrassment outlived the broken nose by miles but then a few days later there was a dodgeball competition. I’ve been a nurse for near a decade and I’ve never seen so many sports related injuries in my life! Those injuries include tripping over their own feet mind you.” She shared with a small chuckle. They were not children but not entirely adults either, she supposed that was why half the kids that stepped into her infirmary seemed to have walked straight out of a sitcom of some sort. “That’s definitely true. It’s not super drastic but different enough that it’s enjoyable. Do you ever think of doing anything different? Unlike some office worker, you’re on the go a lot. I’ve always wondered if being a real estate agent was fun and adventurous.” Casey supposed that depending on where one sold houses and how far their reach extended, it sounded a little exciting. Then again, all it took was one fussy customer to ruin the day and from the sounds of it, that most definitely was the case occasionally. “I hate to sound cruel but you can try, try again. It’s a little discouraging and it may constitute as plant murder but you’ll get the hang of it. If not, I’m sure your Green Thumb can give you a hand.” Gardening was like any other activity, it was always more fun with more people. “If there’s anyone’s word I’m going to take, it’s yours and I’m sure you know where all the hidden gems are.” Casey exclaimed brightly at the offer. “You had me at tour but lunch too? Is there a place I can nominate you for Best Real Estate agent?”

“I used to love playing dodgeball in school. The best was when we did the students against the teachers. Our football coach used to drill half the class and after he knocked the wind out of a kid, he had to sit out because he refused to take it easy on us.” It’d be the best, yet worst time during spirit week. “I bet you have some good stories to tell though?” It wasn’t that he took pleasure in hearing how easily kids got hurt, but it was always amusing to hear how reckless they could be and how quickly they bounced back from it. “It’s been a good time. I couldn’t ask for a better career. It’s not for everyone. I will say that it’s different in every location too. I had a good time in Seattle, but I’ve found it a little more challenging here, but in a good way?” He had to work with different areas of the city, each offering something different. “I’m going to try my hand at a community garden plot next year. Not sure how well it’s going to pan out, but if you have any advice at all, please, I could use it.” He’d gotten the spot right next to Dilan’s and the last thing he wanted to do was embarrass himself or her. “That’s because I do,” he grinned, a little proud of the compliment she offered him. “Good news, you can. Not sure when they do those awards, but they will have a time to vote. Probably next month before our end of the year banquet.”

Admittedly. Roman was different to what she had anticipated. His determination to succeed one of those factors. The fact that it hadn’t always been there. The luxuries. The advantages. The fact that he had to work his ass off, and couchsurf, until he had the means to support himself financially. “Looks like it paid off.” To say the least. But, where she was concerned? Yeah, she definitely was in a better position than some, but overall, shambles was the word that came to mind. “You could say that.” And he did. But, in her mind? Maybe, she was being hard on herself, but there was definitely a long way to go for her to feel adequate. Granted, that was probably her inner demons talking. “But, things definitely haven’t been easy.” Again, to say the least. Alas, it wasn’t a topic she easily dove into either. Only few really knew about her past. And, maybe that was why she went straight to the self-deprecating remarks, when he had asked her out for lunch? “For you?” Eyebrows kinked playfully, before she bit her lip, as though she was pondering the answer. “Sure. I guess I’ve got nothing better to do.” Of course, she couldn’t just go with a simple ‘Sure’, she had to embellish with her sarcastic and taunting remarks, as per usual. But, Roman was always a good sport. Always taking her with a pinch of salt, which was required nine times out of town. Genuine conversation, where it wasn’t comical or bitchy in nature, well, it was rare. Especially where these arrangements were concerned. She’d learned that the hard way. Giving up details of her life to someone she was screwing, and ultimately, leaving her more confused than anything. She definitely didn’t need that route again. “Now, do we order other sides too, or are we just sticking to the chips? ‘Cause I could go for some guac, and maybe some salsa, personally.” Maybe something a little spicy. The brunette always a fan of the hot sauce, chillis, or whatever else. “And, these Margarita’s are more than enough to keep us hydrated.” This was going to be an interesting few hours, that was for sure. How they ended up at the end of it… well, let’s hope luck was on their side.
“Looks like it did, huh?” It was easy to consider himself lucky when he looked at what he’d started with years ago. He’d been a dumb kid at times, but he’d stayed in the system until he was twenty-one and after that, he’d used everything he learned to make it work. He’d gone from having nothing to having everything and he regretted nothing when it came to the steps he’d taken in his career. All screw ups aside, it was perfect. “Are things ever easy?” Things that were easy weren’t nearly as fun to achieve and it didn’t feel as good either. It was when hard work met dedication and tough times that it really seemed to pay off. “What’s better than spending time with me? I’m a blast and I share my alcohol. Name a better time.” He paused for a moment, brows lifted and smile wide. “Actually, don’t,” he added with a chuckle. There were probably plenty of things that she wanted to be doing outside of having lunch with him, but he could joke about it. Her question left him eyeing the menu once more before gaze shifted her way. “Order whatever you want. Consider it me thanking you for putting up with me.” It wasn’t that he was that difficult to handle, but if she wanted guac and salsa, he could swing that no problem. “Feel free to order a meal too. I think I’m going chimichanga. Can’t go wrong with those.” If he was going to be drinking the heavy handed margs, he’d need food to anchor his buzz.

Antoni didn’t often have the heart to explain that he didn’t worry about money because he knew he would never come close to expending even a small portion of the wealth amassed over generations. But it mattered to him that it benefitted more than a select few as it had for so long. “I appreciate that.” he smiled wistfully, knowing that once he’d been the same. He’d been blind to his privilege and the suffering of many at one point in his life and had avowed to never be in that position again. “I don’t know much, but I know people don’t want to feel like they don’t belong. Especially at a physician’s. It’s already usually such an unpleasant experience.” he frowned, but nodded at Roman in acknowledgement. He followed him down the street, turning his head to watch the other’s expression. “What a lucky coincidence that was. But you enjoy it? Selling stuff?”
***
For someone who’d spent their entire life feeling like they didn’t belong, the man’s empathetic nature was something that Roman could relate to. It was more than most physician’s cared to think about and that alone made Antoni a better man. “That’s a big thing to think about. I think sometimes people forget what it’s like to be on the other side of things.” It wasn’t only the money that changed one’s mind, but the power and knowledge too. “As long as you keep looking out for everyone, I don’t see any way this place could fail.” Affordable healthcare and a quality experience? People would eat that up. “I do,” he nodded with a shrug. “It’s one of those things that I never would’ve wanted to do otherwise. So, I’m glad that I got curious and went in for the free food,” he joked, a quiet laugh following. “It’s not even half as important as being a doctor, but it feels good, y’know? Helping people find that perfect place.”

Roman’s words kicked her heart to skip a beat. “I know,” she believed him when he said that. Did she think that they’d up where they once were? She couldn’t predict the future but the brunette, as hopeless of a romantic as she was, hoped that it would end up somewhere. “Only if you want to,” Dilan told him, nodding her head to his words. “I don’t know how many questions they have as much as,” she paused, “as they are worried about me getting hurt again.” Was Dilan a good judge of character? She was. But when it came to her own heart, she often didn’t know what was best. “And I’ve told them both that this is something I want.”

Even if he was still trying to figure things out, he knew that he wanted to at least try to the path they’d taken before. The one that offered them undeniable happiness and a warmth that he’d only ever known with her. “I do,” he assured, bottom lip pulled between teeth. “It was never about not wanting this. Or you.” He’d wanted her more than he could’ve ever explained, even as he’d walked out of their wedding, he’d still wanted her. “That’s fair. What I did wasn’t okay and I get that you’ve forgiven me for it, but I’m still working on the whole forgiving myself thing.” It would take time, but neither of them were in a rush, were they? “It’s something I want too. I just... have a hard time believing that I deserve it.”
antoni mercier
Antoni had already been musing about what he could get Roman that would be useful as a thank you gift for all of his help. He presumed the final price on whatever he bought would be relatively… high, for real estate, anyway, and wanted his gift to reflect at least a little of what the magnitude of gratitude he felt for their quick taking to one another. He thought, finally, that he’d just ask Roman what he was interested in and see what he said. After all, people were harder to read unless you were only interested in face value.
“Oh, I can handle a couple steps.” Antoni promised. He felt like it’d be hypocritical to be a doctor who didn’t follow his own advice and tried to get his full sixty minutes outdoors a day. “No, I agree with you. I’m trying to understand the whole patient experience. Sorry if it seems like I’m some herbal healing person. I believe in penicillin, I’m just rethinking, well, trying to rethink if my practice has always been a good experience for people who come,” he explained with a wave of his hand, opening the door ahead of Roman and holding it while he exited. “I’ve owned before. One in Italy and another in California. Just trying to get my sea legs here.” he fell into line with Roman easily, breathing in deep the fresh fall air. “I don’t think I’ve asked, how’d you get into this profession?”
***
Roman had to appreciate a man who wasn’t looking for money; a doctor who wasn’t more interested in his client profile or the kinds of insurance he’d be seeing in whatever location of town he picked. “No need to explain anything to me, Doc. I get it. If I’m being honest, it’s good to see that you’re taking so much stuff into account before buying a building. I’ve seen too many doctors kick off their own practice with the idea of making more money. Doesn’t matter how good they are when they aren’t doing it for the right reason, but you. Kinda seems like you’ve got it figured out.” Roman offered a kind smile toward the man and gave a quiet ‘thank you’ as they excited the coffee shop and walked onto the street. “Big difference from both,” he hummed, head tilting in amusement as the question was thrown his way. “Funny story. It wasn’t the plan, but I just so happened to talk into a real estate convention once. Talked to a few people and was more curious than anything. I went to a few seminars and turns out, I’m a natural at selling stuff. So, I took my classes, got my license, and the rest is history.”

Dilan knew no number of apologies could erase their past. No, that was simply not how the world worked. It was a shame, to say the least. The brunette knew Roman, knew that his guilt would eat away at him no matter what she said, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to ease it. “What happened,” she paused, smiling at him, “it wasn’t great by any means,” and that was an understatement at best. “but Roman, I have never hated you. My heart was broken, for a long time, but I never hated you.” She explained to him, “I have long forgiven you at this point in my life,” she was thirty, there was no room for hatred and grudges in her heart. “Maybe to the rest of the world you don’t deserve a second chance,” she started once more, “but Roman, I don’t really give a rats ass what they think,” her hand flew to her mouth at her own words, “I mean, no, I mean that,” she laughed again, “I think it’s up to us what happens, not anyone else.” Dilan paused once more, her eyes settling upon Roman. “I want to try, too.”

He liked to believe that their marriage, given the change, could’ve been everything he’d ever wanted back then. It could’ve held him together in his weakest moments and it could’ve offered him the support he’d never had growing up. Instead, he’d let his best man manipulate him into believing that marriage was a terrifying thing that ruined happy couples and the love they’d once shared. Intentional or not, the crappy speech had been the reason he’d ran and hadn’t looked back. “I’m not the same scared guy anymore.” He’d long accepted that he couldn’t chance his past or his upbringing, but that he could be better in the future for the people that needed him. He could love, be happy, be supportive, and lean on others without the fear of them running first. “I should talk to your siblings,” he offered, fingers curling around the stem of his wine glass. “I want them both to know where I’m coming from. You shouldn’t have to answer their questions about me if they even have any. I should.” If they needed to know his intentions, then he wanted to give them the chance to ask.

Casey laughed aloud, more at the memory than the question. “Can’t believe I’m about to tell you but you know those cheesy moments in rom-coms where the guy sees a girl and his mind is just consumed with her? Yeah, it was like that.” She could still remember the vivid flush on her student’s face as one of his friends described the incident to her so she could fill out the incident report for her files. “No…not at all. Nursing in a hospital has its rewards certainly but the losses…it’s those that make it harder.” If she let herself think long enough, she could remember each patient she had lost and under which circumstances. Even though she had become desensitized to an extent, a little levity never hurt anyone. Casey smiled as Roman regaled her on his planting journey. “Well, whoever helped you has a green thumb of their own for sure. Most seasons are a trial and error thing. Some falls and winters are colder than others. I’ve had to keep some plants indoors and then the next year keep them outside. I’m sure if you pay close enough attention, you’ll see the signs.” she encouraged. In their own way, plants had a tendency to speak to her but she was not about to make herself sound even weirder. “Kinda surprised it’s not more popular with tourists or the rich. Sounds like a great place for a vacation home or a vacation period.”Perhaps when she had some time she could make a trip there. “It’s certainly worked. Maybe I should try it sometime. I’m always getting lost and Providence is by no means large.”
***
Oddly enough, Roman knew exactly what she was talking about. He’d watched enough cheesy rom-coms in his life to know every single kind of cliche that could be offered by them. “Poor kid might never live that one down.” If he’d had a nurse that looked like Casey back in the day, he probably would’ve felt the same damn way about going to her over something he could’ve avoided. “Either way, I’m glad that you’re liking the transition into something else. As long as you’re happy, I think that’s all that really matters.” It was like selling real estate in a different place, except she was helping people and he was... well, sort of doing the same? Seattle offered different vibe and atmosphere when it came to buying and selling homes, but he liked the change in pace and was certain that he wanted to stick around the city for as long as he possibly could. “She’s always had a green thumb. Hopefully it sticks with me or all of that hard work would’ve been for nothing.” He had no intention of getting more plants after the ones he had finally gave up, but for all he knew, they’d hold on and he’d have them for as long as one could have a plant. “I like it out there. If I ever wanted to buy a place of my own, I’d probably look in Bighorn.” Only because he needed a break from moving city to city and it seemed like Bighorn had a lot to offer. “If you ever needed a tour, you could always ask. I might even make sure there’s lunch involved so you’re not too bored.”
dylan westwick
Dylan gave a small nod as she listened to him, her hand still atop his for a moment before moving back to her side of the table. “As long as you know it wasn’t your fault, that’s all that matters. Yeah, tryin’ to change the past usually isn’t gonna get you very far. I just think you’re a great guy, and I hope that ya realize ya deserve love again.” She says truthfully although she certainly did not think that he would feel that way about her. She was okay with that though. In some ways this made it a bit easier for her and progressing things along with Oz without having to feel like she was stringing anyone else in her life.
“Yeah, she is a good friend, she definitely makes me feel like a prude sometimes, I’m not gonna lie. Really?! Where’d ya guys go? She was askin’ me the other day about a place I would wanna go too! Maybe I’ll have to try to convince her to bring ya along, fill up your passport a bit more.” Dylan teased although if he did want to come along as well, she wouldn’t mind one bit. She couldn’t help the smile growing on her face as it sounded like he had a new appreciation of art. “I’m glad to hear ya enjoyed that, and in return I’d let you talk my ear off ‘bout all things horror movies. Hell, I’ll even watch ‘em.”
***
His story up until his failed almost marriage wasn’t his fault, that much was true. How he’d handled it after growing up and going on his own? That was his fault. It was a guilt he’d forever be burdened with, regardless of how good things eventually got. “I appreciate everything and I know it was probably a lot for someone you met on Tinder, but I don’t want to. lose this.” She was proving to be a good friend and above all else, that’s what he needed. He needed more people in his life that he lean on and that could lean on him; it was all he’d ever wanted.
“I think anyone would feel like a prude next to Maddie. No offense to her or anything. She’s just been everywhere and done a lot of things. Which, good for her. We went to Patagonia. Her choice of location, but it was a good. I’d trust her to do it again. Hey, just let me know when to be ready.” He didn’t might flights, especially when it was a destination he’d never been to before. “Then it sounds like we’ll have to watch a horror movie for Christmas. I think Krampus might fit the bill if you’re down?”
antoni mercier
Antoni nodded in agreement. Having just upgraded from a flip phone upon his arrival to Providence Peak, he couldn’t quite relate to Roman’s anecdote. If anything, it was easier to type with the touchscreen and full keyboard instead of tapping out formal messages via T9. He couldn’t imagine what it was like to work in real estate, for it truly was a 24/7 occupation. He’d tried to be respectful of Roman’s time and understood that patience was not a virtue awarded to many in the property buyer market. “Thanks,” he patted the papers and turning fully toward Roman.
He’d worn walking shoes today, or rather, shoes comfortable for walking. Antoni had yet to try out trainers in a non-running context, but figured it’d happen one day or another. “Yeah, okay. Well, I’m definitely open to seeing spaces that you’ve got codes for today, and I want to be respectful of your time. So…” he trailed off, listening to the descriptions of the closest location. “I’ve only used public transport a handful of times so far,” Ant admitted. He’d have to commit more time to learning the local lines. “But I’m ready to check out the first one if you are.”
***
When it came to assisting his clients, Roman always did his best to be of service at all times. It was easier when he actually liked the client and he was treated like a real person instead of some automated salesman who was pulled and pushed around. Antoni had been kind and patient and best of all, considerate. It wasn’t often that someone took Roman’s schedule into account without assuming that it was all about them.
“Lucky for you, no transportation needed. Unless you’re not big on walking,” he joked before lifting the cup of coffee to his lips for a long drink before he dabbed at his mouth with a napkin. “I think it’s important for you to see what that walk would look like. It’s less than a five minute walk over. Might give you an idea of what your clients would be doing if they’re close by and prefer to walk. Or if they have to park in a garage and walk over.” It seemed like Antoni was big on the satisfaction of his clients, so wouldn’t that be the first step? With a nod, Roman drained his coffee and once again dabbed at his mouth before he was standing up and heading toward the exit of the shop. “So, have you owned your own place before? Or is this a first time thing?”
dilan barak
At the mention of them almost getting married, she couldn’t help the pinch that that tugged on her heart. “You are not wrong about that,” she agreed with him, a smile sitting on her lips still. While it had not gone as planned, she still found herself wanting to be around Roman since his arrival in Providence Peak. “I know,” Dilan gave him a small smile to his apology. “I know you are sorry, I do,” she had forgiven him, in her heart. Even if people around her tried to stir something in her, to get her to not forgive him, she already had. “I want to keep it honest too, I think we both deserve that.” Dilan noted softly. “We’ve always done best with honesty,” she smiled, “I’m glad we are doing this,” she told him, “I really am.”
***
He wondered if he’d ever stop feeling guilty about the way that things had played out between them. Even if they decided to try again, would he be able to wash away the guilt and move on from it all? “I just want to keep apologizing, but I know that isn’t going to fix anything. It won’t make things better.” He’d already gave that speech anyway, but still, he didn’t feel like enough for what he’d done. “I think I’ll always regret not talking to you about what happened. I guess I was just afraid that it wouldn’t matter.” That, even if they had the conversation about his fear of abandonment, that it wouldn’t hold their marriage together if it didn’t work. “So, if I’m being honest, I don’t think I deserve any kind of second chance here.” It was a hard pill to swallow, but it was truth and he wouldn’t cheat her of that. “Doesn’t mean that I’m not interested in trying, but I know that what happened is not something anyone is ever going to look past and I don’t blame them. Really, Dil, I don’t.”
casey bennett
“I’ll tell you this much…the injuries are at least more hilarious. Had a kid come in the other day, light concussion from running into a glass door he didn’t see. Another looked like a cartoon character from a science experiment gone wrong.” Casey replied with a laugh. The well-being of her students came first but even she could see the humor in it sometimes. “No…I think they curse beginners more like. Trust me, when I was starting out…I managed to kill a cactus of all things. It’s like anything, you do it long enough, you get the hang of it. Well…not anything I suppose, I don’t think I could do what you do.” she complimented with a grin. Trying to fulfill someone’s needs for both present and future confounded her. Casey herself barely knew what she was looking for when she moved to Providence - generally and apartment-wise. With nursing, people came in with their problems that most of the time came with their solutions too. “Bighorn Hills? I think I was there like once for the Summer Fest. What…is there like not a lot of residents there or something?” at the time, it seemed as if the entire Providence had temporarily moved there for the festivities. “I never would have guessed. You navigate this place as if you’ve lived here this whole time.”
***
“I just have to know... how does one run into a glass door? I guess I’ve just never seen a glass door so clean that I haven’t even noticed it.” He’d watched plenty of videos with kids and even animals walking straight into a glass door and with the luck he had, he was surprised it wasn’t something he’d done before. “I guess that’s not a bad thing though, right? That there a little funnier?” It was entertaining, that much was for sure. “So far, since I had a little help, they haven’t died yet. I’ve been on a strict watering and sunlight schedule and I guess it’s doing the trick. I’m not ready for the weather to start changing up though. Not sure how I’m supposed to keep a plant alive when there’s not enough sunlight in the day.” It was just another thing to playfully stress over, but with Dilan’s help, maybe he was in luck. “It’s a little more rural by comparison to the city. I’ve sold a few properties out there. Nice area, but it’s not for anyone who wants to be close to the city.” Public transportation didn’t run out there and it was a small hike into the city for the speciality shops and bars. “I guess that’s a perk of selling property around here. You look at so many maps and addresses that you eventually figure it all out.”
ren sanchez
“The tips don’t hurt.” The brunette admitted, knowing that she’d taken full advantage of them in the past. In fact, there were definitely perks to her current profession, but, it had the obvious downsides too. She looked around at her friends, and people in her life, Roman included, and nine times out of ten, they had these impressive careers. Passion. And what did Ren have? She served alcohol to ungrateful cretins, more often than not. And with that, came advances aimed in her direction, and those who worked alongside her. What purpose did she have? Something she’d never truly looked into or considered, and it wasn’t like she was getting any younger. Another internal struggle which went into the whole ‘I don’t deserve this’ mentality she sported. “But, I’m sure it’s nothing on a commission.” He sure had that perk beat. Usually it was percentage based on the sale, and let’s be honest, it was always a hefty win. “Oh come off it. You have a pretty good set-up.” He was lucky. In so many areas. And she wasn’t about to dive into those reasons, from what she did know about him. “As far as a ‘life’ goes, that is.” A shrug only solidifying her input. “Y’know what, maybe it is. But, I guess I’ll take your word for it, Morales.” A smirk following suit, before she began picking at the chips between them once more. “I can see that. Considering we’ve got a few under our belts now.” Their lunch, and their arrangement on a more private basis. Though, a part of her was beginning to wonder when he would call it off. Or vice versa. “Wonder how ‘bottomless’ they mean. Reckon we could get away sitting here for hours on end just eating chips, and they wouldn’t kick us out?”
Looking at his life now, he had everything to be proud of. He had a nice car, a decently furnished apartment, and a bank account that came a long way from where he’d been in college. He was well off, but at what cost? He’d ran from happiness years ago and chose to throw himself into a career that he was actually good at. It was something that was his and that no one could take away from him, despite the fear of abandonment that was nestled deep in his soul. It was the sound of her voice that pulled him back into the moment, his jaw clenched tight as he forced the memory of his past from his mind and chose to focus on the happenings that surrounded him now. “Yeah, I guess I do. It took me a long time to get here. When I first moved to Seattle and started with this agency, I was couchsurfing for a few months until I had enough to get my own place.” It’d been a tough transition, but he’d stuck to it and now it was all paying off. “You’re not doing so bad yourself.” From what he knew, she had her own place and that alone was a perk by comparison to some. “I wouldn’t say take my word on a lot, but this? You should definitely take my word.” He hated giving advice because he knew that he wasn’t good at it. He’d rain from a marriage and hurt someone undeserving of pain; he was the last person that needed to speak on anything. Grin widened as she issued a challenge his way, one they’d both participate in until the they were cut off. “Guess the only way to figure it out is if we try. You think you can spare a few hours today?”
dylan westwick
Dylan couldn’t imagine the hurt he went through in his younger years, it made her sad for him. The thought of the people who were supposed to love you most not making you feel loved at all was devastating. She hated that for him. “I’m real sorry that you grew up in that type of way, Roman. You deserved so much more than that, and you absolutely are more than worth keeping around.” Her voice was gentle as she moved to place her hand atop his for a moment, feeling the need for the contact to just assure him she was being genuine in her words to him.
Hearing his joke, she let out a small laugh as she shook her head. “I have no idea, but knowin’ Maddie for as little time I have, I can tell she doesn’t really keep her thoughts hidden. But hey, at least you’re known for bein’ good in bed and not somethin’ weird.” She offered hoping that it was consolation, even though she figured he probably didn’t need it considering he was being complimented. “Of course. I definitely never thought that. I mean you let me talk about art for hours and said you wanted to hear more, for cryin’ out loud. I like ya, I promise.”
***
He didn’t talk about his life back then, or maybe the lack thereof. He didn’t want to be the pity party that everyone coddled out of some fear of overstepping. “No need to apologize,” he hummed in return, a gentle grin on his lips. “Wasn’t your fault. Wasn’t mine either. Just kind of how things were and I can’t change that. I’ve spent most of my life wishing that I could, but I can’t.” She was right though, no one deserved to feel the way that he had, but all anyone could do was hope that the system changed and that more caring people were willing to step up to fill the void of need.
“That’s true. There are worse ways to be known, huh? She’s a good friend. She was actually the first person I ever went out of the country with. I told her I had a passport without any stamps on it and she decided to change that.” Even if they’d fallen into bed together a few times, a friendship came from it all and he was thankful for it. “Yeah, I did that,” he grinned, biting back a hum of laughter. “I’d do it again, y’know? Art isn’t all that bad when someone is explaining to you.”

Antoni had given Roman a rough budget, but had failed to mention that in all honesty, there wasn’t really a budget to speak of. He knew it was a privilege afforded to few, but he hadn’t actually considered the cost of something since… well, ever. His eyes scanned the listings again, noting that he liked the outside of that building, but the bones of another… and there was always the delay of time with the buildout… there was so much to consider. He sipped at his drink, setting the file on the table next to them for a moment.
“You’re right. I’m the worst with phones and technology.” he admitted. “If it’s not on paper, I can’t remember it for the life of me and I just get frustrated when I can’t find it.” Ant shook his head with a chuckle. If only Roman knew that Antoni had just graduated from a flip phone when he lost his in the move. “Honestly,” Ant paused, pondering what Roman had said. “I’m… I’m more interested in something smaller with parking and local transportation access. But if there’s something with a bit more space and better parking that’s not included here,” one hand gestured to the file splayed open, “then I’m most interested in that. I’m not worried about the range I gave you, I just thought it was a good initial ballpark.”

“It’s easy to get distracted on your phone. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in the middle of emails and got another notification that needed my attention. Then, an hour or two later, I realize that I missed a reply on an email. Talk about panic.” He had some needy clients that weren’t so kind, but he did his best to stay on top of everything out of fear of what happened if he didn’t. That, and he liked the big dollar commissions that came with attention and always being there for his buyers. “Feel free to take that paperwork with you today. I know it’s a lot to go over in a short amount of time, but it’s got a lot of good stuff on there. Might have your narrow down your options after we’ve done our walk through.”
Nodding, It was good to know that when it came to money, there was room to work with. “How about you look over the details. I’ve got access codes to the lockboxes on a few of those places that we could check out today if you have the time. One is about two blocks over. It has the bigger space, but no direct parking access. There’s a parking garage about a block away from that though. It was used for office buildings for years before the company went bankrupt and turned it over to the bank. Hasn’t been touched in awhile, but I think it has potential if you take away the parking. Public transportation though, it’s everywhere except for Bighorn Hills basically. So, that’s a good starting point if you asked me.”
