Oh man, didn't know there was another moth race for Starbound until I saw your Hylotl redo! Dump some lore on me! Are they related to the Saturnians, lore-wise? What do they think of the Saturnians in-game? What's your favorite part about your race? Feel like sharing anything else about them? Also thanks for the new moth buddies! They're very cute.

theyre not related to saturnians in lore! i wanted to keep them independent of referencing other race mods i guess? i do have lore about their relations to base game races tho!

i put some of it in books in the mod as well, which are currently craftable, but once i put in the villages the recipes are gonna be removed and theyll be part of village loot pools :>

lepidoptians shared a home planet with another species, called fayents. fayents are meant to be another playable race, but are not finished yet and are something im adding in a future update!

the two used to be the same species, and diverged from eachother at some point in ancient history, eventually becoming the separate species they are today

the first off-world species they had contact with were agaran, who visited the lepids and fayents' home planet, and thereabout helped the 2 other species learn to achieve space travel themselves

in lore, they also share a home galaxy with the hylotl home planet, which wouldve been the second space-faring people they'd encountered. i wanted to also write some stuff about them forming clan bonds with floran!

my fav part about them is some of the lore ive been writing about their wings! they have a shape-shifting kind of ability, where they can just change their wings (shape, colour, pattern, etc) by absorbing plants

another favourite thing ive written about them is their concept of social groupings! unlike many other species, lepidoptians dont use genders, or dont really have a concept close to a human understanding of it. instead they group themselves by their circadian rhythm! (whether theyre diurnal, nocturnal, crepuscular, or none of those)

their home planet is a new type ive also added to the game via this mod, called gloamfall. theyre thick, autumn-looking forests that are perpetually in twilight. after becoming space-travelling, the lepidoptians evolved to adapt to a great number of different environments, which also caused the conceptualization among them of sleep schedule preferences, and thus their "genders"

thank u btw! im very proud of the work ive put into them! i originally uploaded a bare-bones version in 2019 but i fell into a rly bad mental slump for a while. i hadnt started to seriously update the mod until recently! (as in around september last year)
