If you're only using CC with Color Sliders, install just the thepancake1_ColorSlidersUI_EnableSliders_v4c and __thepancake1_ColorSlidersUI_EnableEyebrowSliders_v4c files. If you want EA stuff to be editable, download the textures as well.
If you have More CAS Columns, make sure the file for that is in the same folder as Color Sliders!
The UI packages for enabling the sliders have been rebuilt! Also, a new set of base packages for the converted textures have been released. Some categories have also been changed, so make sure to read carefully.
The latest update to Color Sliders offers a new set of base packages! The base packages are the converted textures required so you can change the colors of the sim's clothes on the fly. The textures packages are separated by pack and category so you can pick and choose which categories you want for the packs you own.
The v2 and v3 base packages were built against Patch 1.90 which released almost four years ago. The size of the packages had gotten very large over time, to the point that it made updating hard for anyone who didn't have fast internet.
Note that v2 and v3 textures remain supported! Support will be discontinued for them one year from now on May 18, 2027.
Fixed compatibility with More Columns in CAS/More CAS Columns. No need to redownload the textures. Please redownload the UI files though!
Fixed a bug where Head Decorations, Acne, Fingernails and Toenails had no slider options. No need to redownload textures as this was just was a bug in the UI files, so make sure to redownload those.
For the people using More Columns in CAS and Color Sliders, or if EnableEyebrowSliders is not working, can you please try this?
Try if changing the "__" at the __thepancake1_ColorSlidersUI_EnableEyebrowSliders package into exclamation marks. Change the start of the filename to !!thepancake1_ColorSlidersUI_EnableEyebrowSliders
Make sure to keep the version number and extension at the end if applicable, and let me know if it works or doesn't work!
If you get a Better Exception error about a file named thepancake1_ColorEditable_Cats&Dogs_HatsAndHeadDecorations being corrupt or invalid, there's no need for concern.
Simply delete that specific file and it'll be solved. It's just an export bug that produces an empty package, so I've removed the package from the Google Drive.
What does Color Sliders do?
The mod enables the color sliders used for makeup on most categories for human Sims. This means you can do cool stuff like change the colors of hair, clothes, and more.
Accessories - Glasses, Gloves, Socks, Necklaces, Earrings, Wrist Accessories, Nose Rings, Brow Rings, Finger Rings/Accessories, Leggings, Fingernails, Toenails, Skin Specularity
Body Hairs - Arm, Leg, Torso Back and Torso Front Body Hairs
Hats And Head Decorations - pretty self explanatory
More skin detail categories are now supported, but since most EA details can't be recolored, I haven't built textures for them. It's useful for CC to have the option to recolor skin details like birthmarks.
Base Layers have been added in the latest patch. You can find these by downloading the Base Layers package from the Base Game.
Hats have been merged with Head Decorations to form a new category called "Hats And Head Decorations"
Nails have been merged with Accessories.
Categories now use plural nouns instead of mixing singular and plural. In practice this is just adding an "s" at the end of most categories.
Full Body -> Full Body Clothes
Texture and UI package Downloads:
Google Drive is the main option, but I personally prefer Proton Drive because it doesn't split the files into multiple zips and the download tends to to be much more reliable.
Proton Drive is not listed n the Patreon because it seems to be tripping their spam filter.
How To Install (Part 1 - just the textures)
If you're planning to use this mod mainly with CC compatible with it, try playing the game with just the UI package that enables the sliders first.
Skip to Part 2 below if you're only playing with Color Sliders compatible CC.
There are two ways of installing the textures. The first is by installing the new base packages, while the second relies on you already have the old Color Sliders texture packages from v2 and v3.
If installing the new base packages:
Head over to the download page here. Click on the Color Sliders Textures v4 Base Packages folder:
For each of the packs you want to download converted textures for, go inside the pack type, then pick and choose each of the packs you want to download converted textures for.
In this gif, I want to install textures for Adventure Awaits, Businesses & Hobbies and City Living. I head over to the Expansion Packs folder, left click on the boxes next to the pack names, and then right-click and select Download.
It will take a while for the packages to be zipped up by Google Drive, so be patient.
If your browser asks if you want to download multiple files, say yes.
If you downloaded multiple packages, you will get either multiple zips or a single zip that you can extract into your Mods folder.
Create a folder named "Color Sliders v4 Base Packages" in your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods folder:
When your files have finished, click on the zips from the downloads list in your browser to open it.
If there are multiple zips, make sure to extract them all.
Now that you've downloaded one set of pack textures, make sure to go back and click the other pack categories to get all of the textures you need!
Repeat this process for each of the categories for the Game Packs, Stuff Packs, Kit and Base Game. I highly recommend getting at least the Base Game textures.
Make sure to only grab textures for the packs you own.
In the future, you will have to download the files in Color Sliders Textures v4 Patches for the packs you own, but since the new base packages were built for Patch 1.124, there's no patch files yet.
If installing the new version and you have an older version of the Color Sliders Textures
Create a folder named "Color Sliders v2 v3 Base Packages" in your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods folder:
After that, copy over all the base packages files from your existing Color Sliders installation. You can tell it's a base package if it does not start with two exclamation marks.
Next, create a folder named "!!Color Sliders v2 v3 Patch Packages" next to the folder you made in the previous step.
Head over to the download page here. Click on the Color Sliders Textures v2 and v3 Patches folder, then head over to the category types, then select and download the pack patch textures you want to install in your game.
Make sure to grab only the patch textures for the packs you own.
A Preparing download dialog might appear, wait until this is finished.
Then extract the new patch packages you downloaded into this folder.
The exclamation marks at the start are important for the folder name, as they tell the game to load the patch packages after the base packages.
An easy method to check if you've installed the mod and the patches correctly after finishing Part 2 of the installation guide is to get a Grim Reaper sim from the gallery, then check his outfit.
How To Install (Part 2 - the enable slider files)
To use the converted textures and add the Color Sliders UI to the sims, download thepancake1_ColorSlidersUI_EnableSliders_v4c file in the main Color Sliders folder on Google Drive and place it in the Mods folder.
To edit Eyebrows as well, make sure to download the __thepancake1_ColorSlidersUI_EnableEyebrowSliders_v4c package as well and place it in the mods folder.
The packages can be placed up to five subfolders deep.
If you're using More CAS Columns by weerbesu and Color Sliders, make sure the UI files and weerbesu's mod file are in the same folder.
The above image may have a different version number than the file you download, but that's okay!
Technical Explanation on the strange looking underscores
Feel free to skip this section if you just want to move on to the FAQ.
There is no MoreColumnsCompatible file anymore because the mod has been split into two files.
The underscores at the start of the EnableEyebrowSliders package is to make sure that More CAS Columns to be prioritized over the file in Color Sliders. Without them, the mod would always load before More CAS Columns, causing the column count to always remain at 2 no matter what variant of that mod you picked.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it break my game if I remove this mod? Is uninstalling the mod dangerous?
Nope! I've tested it with the latest version of the mod and I can confirm that removing Color Sliders, either one, or both the ui and textures will not cause any damage to your saved game.
Will my sim's customized colors disappear after I install Color Sliders, uninstall either the UI or Textures packages, then install it again later?
Nope, the data is saved using EA's makeup slider system, so while it may look like the original swatch while the textures are removed, the moment you place them back, or update to a newer version of the patch files, your sim's custom colors will return.
Does this still work with weerbesu's More Columns in CAS/More CAS Columns?
Yes. Make sure to read the second part of How to Install so that both mods work.
Can I install just the EnableEyebrowSliders file without installing the EnableSliders one as well?
No, you can use either EnableSliders or EnableSliders and EnableEyebrowSliders, but not just EnableEyebrowSliders.
This mod will conflict with anything that modifies the classlibrarygamedata file for the main sliders. If you wish to enable the opacity and/or color on all eyebrows, the optional Enable Eyebrow Sliders package will conflict with any mod that modifies cascustomizer that isn't More CAS Columns.
Please let me know if you have any issues or feedback regarding Color Sliders!
If there are any bugs, let me know! I'll try and fix them as quickly as possible.
And finally, thank you for the support you've given me throughout the years. I would not be here making mods if you didn't stick with me. I appreciate every feedback, suggestion, and bug report you send my way.
Special thanks to late CmarNYC for discovering the original LRLE file format and taking her time to explain everything to me.
