The back of the oldest currently operating restaurant in the city of Paris, Le Procope. Started in the 1686, it has been continuously open ever since, with only minor interruptions. There has been a discussion of the sorts between two restaurants who are contenders for the title of the oldest in Paris, and probably the world. Le Procope on one end, being opened in 1686, and working without interruptions until today - La Tour d'Argent on the other end claims it was opened in 1582, a full century earlier, and frequented by the king Henri IV, but cannot offer any proof of this. Up to you to decide really. Nowadays La Tour d'Argent is a 3* restaurant that is reputed to be the best in Paris (interestingly, far from most expensive) and possibly the most sought after, with a waiting list of several months; on the other hand, Le Procope sports no stars, and in most cases you can walk right in.
