Tickletober Day 26: Favorite Spot
fandom: criminal minds
word count: 780
pairing: JJ x reader (romantic)
summary: JJ finds out you're ticklish during your first date.
You sat side by side with JJ, drinking wine and lazily watching the movie you’d put on to get rid of the awkward silence.
Everyone who knew you knew you’d been crushing on her since the moment you met her—everyone except JJ. Which you suppose you were thankful for, at first. After a while, though, you were trying to make your feelings as painfully obvious as you could without completely yelling out that you liked her, but JJ still wasn’t getting it.
It took Penelope graciously inserting your name into their conversations to figure out what her feelings towards you even were. You were thankful to find out that she had been crushing on you, too, albeit silently. A weight had been lifted from your shoulders and the next day, you asked her out on a date.
Now, the two of you sat on your couch after a delightful and fun dinner, not sure of much else to say now that you were alone in the quietness of your living room.
You were stiff as a board—not being able to relax as you sat next to her. JJ must have noticed because she nudged your arm with her elbow, prompting you to look at her.
“Are you okay?” She asked. You swallowed the bit of wine you’d just consumed and nodded.
“Yeah, it’s just… different now. I’m nervous,” You chuckled quietly, eyes locked onto your wine glass. Shaking your head, you added, “Sorry. It’s stupid.”
JJ placed a hand on your knee. “It’s not stupid. It’s normal to be nervous on a date.”
“I know, but I’ve known you for a while. I shouldn’t be this nervous to talk to you. We talk all the time.”
“Like you said: it’s different now. But different doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I had a great time tonight,” She squeezed the top of your knee comfortingly, but was taken aback by the jolt of your leg and the way you leaned forward with a squeak. She pulled away quickly. “I’m so sorry!”
“It’s okay! I—uh… you just… it tickled,” You stuttered out, hiding your face in your free hand. “God, that’s so embarrassing.”
JJ reached forward to sit her half empty glass on the coffee table, turning to you with a genuine grin on her face. “You? Ticklish? Now, that’s something I never thought I’d see.”
“I don’t just hand out that sort of infor-MATION!” You squealed for a second time as JJ pinched your knee muscle again. “JJ!”
She snickered, taking your glass and placing it next to hers. “That’s just adorable. Where else are you ticklish?” She asked, her fingers sneaking over to your sides. She wiggled them into the soft skin, smiling wider at your tipsy giggles.
“Wahahait! JJ!” You protested, curling up into a ball. Her hands found every inch of ticklish skin they could, slipping past your defenses.
“What? I had to get you to open up somehow! Your way less tense and nervous, now,” JJ teased you, squeezing at your ribs. You fell over into her lap, unable to have any control of your body.
“Ahaha!! Ohokay! You’re rihihight!” You agreed, sucking in a deep breath once you realized JJ had stopped tickling you. Still, you stayed put in her lap, letting out your residual giggles before looking up at her. “That was mean.”
“Mean and cute. I love your laugh,” She said softly, a genuineness to her tone that you had no choice but to believe her. You blushed once again, your grin never faltering.
“Thanks.”
“But what I love more than your laugh is your little squeaks when I tickle you here. This is my favorite spot,” JJ continued, leaning forward to pinch your knees again. You squeaked as she had described, barking out a laugh. You slapped her hands away out of instinct, groaning once you heard her snickering at you.
“Don’t you ever tell anyone about this. I’ll never forgive you,” You fake scowled at her, sitting up and facing her once more.
“I make no such promises. What kind of person would I be if I didn’t tease you like this on the plane or at the round table?” JJ laughed, poking you in the stomach. You flinched and glared at her playfully.
“Fine, I guess I’ll just have to find my favorite spot of yours, then,” You smirked with self-satisfaction. JJ laughed, but you could hear the nerves.
“Well, it’s too bad I’m not ticklish.”
“Mhm, right. We’ll see about that,” You said before pouncing on her, mercilessly squeezing at her sides. Of course, JJ was lying. She was ticklish—maybe even more so than you.
