Virgil found it... odd, to put it lightly. For all of his life on earth he had developed an overwhelming distaste, given, the brown-blonde haired man may even refer to his feelings as hatred for the royals that reigned there.
To him, they were nothing more than stuck-up pansies with silver spoons shoved so far up their hind quarters they couldn't even fathom the idea of having any sense of care for anyone below them. Upon arriving at Purin-Purin he expected no difference, but was pleasantly surprised (as well as equally perplexed) to find out that the royal family there were not quite what he assumed them to be...
Never in a million years did he think he would find himself engaging pleasantly with a royal, much less end up dating one. In fact, he was sure if he told his younger self about it he would keel over and die on the spot.
Truth be told however, when he first met Kei, he swore he had a flash of amnesia concerning his hatred with how quickly the princess disarmed his concerns.
Now here they lay—cuddled together on one of Kei's frankly, overwhelmingly lavish basil porcelain couches that she had recoloured to a much more eye-catching colour because, "beige was most certainly not befitting of someone as esteemed as her!". Virgil chuckled in remembrance at the thought—all this while his hand was absentmindedly stroking gracefully through his unlikely lover's hair, feeling her stir from a light slumber—he hadn't even realised she'd fallen into—due to the disturbance of the rumble that came from his chest.
"What's so funny?..." She murmured, her gorgeous lavender eyes fluttered open as she shifted lightly in his grasp so that she could look up at him. Virgil swore he felt his heart stutter.
"Nothin'... Just thinkin' is all." He replied absentmindedly, his tone soft, a velvety southern drawl complimented by a gentle, deep rumble. Kei seemed unconvinced.
"Well, it must've been a pretty funny thought for you to wake me up." Her voice sang with playful annoyance, a small titter of authoritarianism seeping through making Virgil gulp unnoticeably.
“Whoa there, princess—” He raised his hands in mock surrender to the ravenette’s glare. “T’ain't my fault you chose me as yer resting place, now.” He finished, leaning back on the sofa, face determined to maintain the “annoyed” scowl he bore and fight back the smile that threatened it.
“Naw c'mon…” Kei softly cupped his cheeks in her hand as she stared up at him from her spot on his chest. “I didn't say that for you to stop smiling.” She blinked—hopeful—Virgil’s deathstruck gaze held no room for such hope.
Kei frowned, but she wasn't giving up that easily.
“Oh? So that's how it is—” Kei hummed deceptively, her brow raised as her expression twisted into one of feigned disappointment. “Very well… I can always get it the hard way.” Her tone was suddenly playful—thick with sweet volition as she now settled herself on top of his hips rather than laying atop him.
Now it was Virgil's turn to raise a brow—mouth falling agape to question but before he could even process a word, a poke. Followed by another one. Then another.
“Ahahahehe!? K–Kehehei! Whahaddya think yeheher dohohin't!?” Before he could even ponder concealing his reaction, soft, breathy giggles began to erupt from his lips as his lover had the audacity to prod at his sides.
“I’m just trying to see my handsome boyfriend's smile… Is that so wrong?” A sly giggle left her own lips, her fingers wandering over the latter's torso with delicate precision.
To Virgil, even though they were dating, he was still very foreign to these playful interactions between them, even after all this time of knowing one another his heart still hung heavy with doubt of her—a princess— actually loving him to such an extent. Yet here she was—eyes shining with such bright adoration eager to see him—him—smile it made him practically melt.
“Naehehehe—! Kn-knohock it ohoff—!!” He tried to bark through rampant giggles, trying to cover his slowly hue gaining face—though said giggles and blush made it very difficult to take him seriously, much to Kei's plain as day amusement.
Yet, as giddy, suspicious, joyous and puzzled as he was—yes, he still, very much had those mixed emotions—he wasn't about to just lay there and let Kei get away with this now was he? Of course he was… Not.
He swatted at Kei's hands only for her to dart around and aim for another spot. The princess smirked with childish glee watching him fight back to no avail, until—
“Oh—!” The sound escaped Kei's lips faster than she was even able to process what happened. Next thing she knew suddenly she was the one pinned under Virgil's weight, arms pinned above her head and a determined, huffing, red faced Virgil glaring down at her with vengeful, yet playful intent.
“That was a bad move ye just made ‘ere, princess.” He practically growled once he caught his breath from the previous attack. Kei's sly expression quickly twists into one of nervousness as she stares up at him with wide eyes.
“Ahah—! W–Wait! Vihirgil, honey—” Her voice quivered, already filled with anxious giggles.
“Surely we can talk about thi–EEES!!” Before she could even finish her sentence, Virgil landed a quick squeeze to her hip with his free hand causing a loud, squeal to erupt from the royal.
“Nah… Now ‘a think it's my turn to see yer smile.” Another squeeze followed by a jolt.
“But ‘a ain't quite sure a smile is enough—” He hummed thoughtfully, tapping his fingers against her hips. “Especially given that lil’ stunt you just pulled.”
A poke to her tummy eliciting a shrill squeak. “So how about a’ see what this little princess has to offer, hm?” He emphasised his point with quick pokes after each word sending Kei into a tizzy of sweet giggles.
“Vihihirgil!! Pleheheaseee—”
“Please? But a’ just started.” He playfully cut her off once more with a gentle scribble to her neck. Kei shrieked, immediately slamming her head against his hand, shoulders and nose scrunching so adorably Virgil had to stop himself from cooing.
“Now let's not forget, you were the one who had the audacity—” He accentuated with a scribble under her chin.
“Ta try and tickle me first—Me! The Virgil of all things, how dare you!” He emphasised childishly with a light scratch behind her ears eliciting what he would relay as the most adorable snort he'd ever heard.
The feigned annoyance in his voice and utter silliness earned a faint, whine laced–“Ohoho my staharsss…” –from a poor, unfortunate Kei knowing what was to come, only to be met with highly amused chuckling.
“But ohoho sweetheart—” His thick, cowboy accent suddenly rang with a rumbling lilt in her ear, Kei couldn't help but shiver. “I don't think this is nearly enough of a consequence for you, atleast—” His fingers suddenly dug into her underarms with newfound vigor. “Not yet.”
Any sense of resolve Kei may have had left immediately crumpled—loud, boisterous laughter ringing through the room as her hands fruitlessly clung to her sides only serving to trap the perpetrator in quite the fanciful predicament—much to her dismay and to Virgil’s enjoyment.
“WAHAHAEHEHE—!! VIHIHIR— Bahahaby plehease—!!” She pleaded frantically with empty desperation, back arching with ticklish sensation, yet made no real effort to escape his grasp. Virgil was horrible at reading people but he knew she was cackling with nothing but the happiest glee as his fingers continued working meticulously.
“Please what? Keep tickling ya? Keep making you laugh? Well ‘a ain't had no intentions a stopping but it's polite a ya to ask…” He taunted playfully, his voice a gentle, delighted purr as his gaze fell on his trapped fingers. “Not like ye gave me much of a choice either way, doll.” He couldn't help but chuckle himself with the way Kei tried to babble in protest at his implication.
Try as she might, it was absolutely no secret how much Kei loved receiving this kind of attention. Of course, she did love making Virgil smile and laugh but she couldn't deny how fun it was when the roles were reversed.
How his fingers seemed to know exactly where, when and how to reduce her to a stress-free, giggling mess. How the wiggling digits always managed to make her squeal and jump, finding all of her weak spots whenever he needed to get a point across or simply just for fun working absolute wonders in dissolving her resolve. How it was simply just him unravelling her dignitary form from just a few scribbles and rakes of his nails. Oh, she would never admit how much she loved it… But truthfully, she never had to.
“Oh come now don't act like you ain't enjoying this. With all that adorable hooting yer doin' I’d bet ye were the happiest dame in all the kingdom right now.” He goaded, tone light and loving—his fingers slowed, not wanting Kei to get too winded too quickly, of course.
“Yohou’re such dohohork…” Her bold laughter quietened to gentle giggles, clearly holding no ill malice towards the tease.
“Oh am the dork?” His fingers found their way under her translucent garment—heavens he could barely understand how she called it a shirt—feeling the way her delicate skin trembled under the light touch and emphasised with a light squeeze to her tummy, a surprised squeak escaped Kei followed by the frantic jolt and rapid flying giggles of the same. “And yet, who was the one who started this whole ordeal, huh? Huh?” He punctuated each word with another soft squeeze, chuckling softly to himself by the defeated whines that escaped through her giggle-strung lips.
Heavens, she was precious.
Virgil watched her writhe for a few more seconds, a low, amused hum rumbling in his chest. Stars help him—she was adorable like this. Laughter bright and unguarded, her grin bright enough to light the entire castle.
“…Y’know—” He drawled lazily, eyes twinkling as he soaked in the fullness of her frame. “Yer awful cute like this…” He hummed just quite enough where she could barely hear.
Kei barely had time to acknowledge his words and the brighter hue that dusted her cheeks before his fingers lightly lifted themselves from the warm skin, leaving her breathless and confused.
“…W–Wait—?” He panted between leftover giggles, chest heaving—almost disappointed. “You’re— you’re stopping?”
Virgil tilted his head, faux-innocent. “Didn't say that.”
Her eyes widened.
He shifted tactics.
Instead of diving right back in, two, singular fingers slid along the crease where her tummy and sides met in slow, teasing trails—light enough to make her shiver, not enough to make her laugh… Yet. Kei squirmed immediately, hips twitching in anticipation.
“Vihirgil…” She warned, voice already wobbling, yet, her tone held absolutely no yearn for this to end. By Xielo he found her cute after all, why would she?
He smirked. “That’s my name, don't wear it out.”
He let his fingers dance along her poor tummy some more before they paused, he stared at her, a knowing look that made her heart race—ready to spring into action once more.
Kei’s breath hitched. “Don't you dare—!”
Too late.
He wiggled his fingers in quick, playful scribbles across her stomach, leaving no patch of the pretty torso untouched—her sides, her ribs, her lower belly, her hips, around her cute little bellybutton—all of it got a sweet, sweet little kiss from his fingers.
“IHIHI—!! Wahahahait—!!” Kei shrieked, hands instantly flying down, not to stop him, but instead gently held onto his hands as they worked—it seemed to give her a sense of closure, to which Virgil, of course, found adorable, so he allowed it.
Virgil chuckled. “My, just look at you, absolutely tickled pink ain't cha?” He commented on her rosy blush which only grew at the analogy.
He pressed in deeper, switching to brisk, rhythmic pokes that sent her laughter spiking.
“Waahahaha—!! Dohohon’t tehease! That’s nohohot fair—!!” She bucked, shoulders shook and body twisted on instinct as she tried—and failed—to squirm away.
“Fair?” He echoed, mock-offended. “Princess, you started a war you very much wasn't gonna win. Am jus’ finishing it.”
He alternated—one hand poking, the other scratching at different spots and vice versa, keeping her just staggered enough that she couldn't predict the next touch. Kei’s laughter turned breathy, frantic, punctuated by sharp squeals every time he found a new sensitive patch.
“Vihihir—! I sweheear—!!” she gasped, face flushed pink. “I’m gohohonna—!”
“Gonna what?” he teased, leaning closer. “Laugh? ‘Cause yer doin't a mighty fine job a’ that already.”
To punctuate the point, he allowed his fingers to wander across her bellybutton.
She stiffened.
He grinned.
She glared.
He paused.
A beat.
Suddenly his finger dipped. Wiggling and scratching at the poor button like there was no tomorrow.
Kei lost it.
“WAHAHAHAHA—!! NOHOHO—!! STAHAHAP—!!”
Her head thrashed side to side as she laughed, legs kicking uselessly against the couch. Virgil simply chuckled right along with her.
“Good lord.” He murmured fondly, not slowing down. “Yer ticklish as all get-out, ain't ya?”
She could barely respond—just breathless, high-pitched giggles spilling out nonstop as she shook beneath his hands. Every attempt at a feeble retort dissolved into helpless laughter.
Finally—mercifully—he eased off again, hands retreating to rest on either side of her waist.
Kei collapsed into a pool of mush against the cushions, gasping.
“…You’re evil.” She wheezed.
Virgil raised a brow. “Evil?”
She nodded weakly. “Pure. Unfiltered. Evil.”
He snorted. “Comin' from someone who ambushed me first? That’s rich.”
She shot him a tired glare… which lasted about two seconds before it melted into a grin.
“…Worth it.” she admitted.
His chest warmed.
Virgil softened then—hands returning, but gentler now. Light strokes along her sides, barely ticklish, more comforting than teasing. Kei still twitched, little giggles slipping out despite herself, but the frantic edge was gone.
He guided her carefully back against him, arms wrapping around her once more as the moment settled.
Kei’s chest rose and fell, greedily gasping in gulps of air as Virgil gently cradled her in his arms, resuming their previous position while he lightly rubbed her back aiming to calm her down.
“And all of that cuz’ I just wanted to see you smile, you jerk!” She chidded, hissing playfully as she batted at him.
“Yeah, well, a’ think you got to see it just fine now, didn't you?” Virgil chuckled, his smile still lingering from the whole altercation as he brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face.
“Oh so you only smile at my misery?” She huffed.
“You loved it.” He shot back.
“Screw you.” She gently slapped his chest causing him to bark out a laugh.
You know… Maybe this could work after all—Maybe they could work.

"Ticklish?" Yaeka's eyes lit up as she listened to her stand-in babysitters, Kei Suguhara and Shogo Takeuchi, as they spilt the beans on poor Kirishima whilst he was at a meeting with their boss.
Suguhara was laying on his side as he watched Yaeka drawing happily. He took another biscuit from the table, popping it in his mouth with a nod.
"Mhm. Kirishima is suuuper ticklish. It's his only known weakness~" He explained, wiping the biscuit crumbs on his jeans. Takeuchi, who was sat across from Yaeka, furrowed his brow.
"Hey," He started in a hushed tone. "Are you sure it's safe to be telling the little lady this? If Kirishima finds out through her, he'll know it was us who told her. He'll kill us."
The other blonde's face sank as he realised. This was bad. Of all the secrets they had spilt about Kirishima, this was definitely the one that would get them in trouble.
"Damn it, you're right!" He gasped as he sat up, frantically clinging to his partner's shirt. "What are we gonna do?! I'm too young to die, Takeuchi!"
"I-It's fine! It's fine! I'm sure Yaeka will understand how important it is to keep it a secret. R-Right, Yaeka?" The two looked at the doe-eyed girl with a hopeful smile. Praying that she was merciful enough to not let it slip. That she would find it in her heart to-
"Keep what a secret~?" The two blonde's hearts stopped as they heard the unmistakable, cold-toned, voice of the Demon.
They shuddered in their seats, listening to the sliding door behind Yaeka as it was pushed open. Kirishima stepped in and stood over the little lady, still wearing his black suit jacket that was only worn to official events. He smiled warmly at his little lady, before turning a grim eye to the others, he already knew they had done something that would warrant a beating.
Kei stuttered for his life, trying to come up with something. Anything that might save their butts.
"Uh! N-Nothing! Nothing at all! We don't keep secrets here! We're an open book, right Takeuchi?!"
"Right! We've just been uhhh, drawing! Drawing all afternoon~ Look how amazing Yaeka's drawing is! Haha, woooow!" Shogo held up one of Yaeka's crayon drawings, hoping it may act as a shield. "So talented!"
Kirishima raised a brow as he smirked, baring those shiney fangs of his. He loved watching his underlings squirm.
"They told me that you're ticklish." Yaeka's little voice spoke up as she looked up at her babysitter. The two blonde's all but died behind her, collapsing into a heap. They were finished for sure.
"Oho, did they now?" The silver-eyed man chuckled angrily, slipping his jacket off, and draping it calmly over a dresser, before loosenig his tie and cracking his knuckles. Yaeka set her crayons aside, gently grabbing Kirishima's trouser leg.
"I want to see." She smiled innocently at him, the blonde's suddenly being revived as they heard her request.
The cheeks of the Demon heated up a little as he stared down at her, shocked by her words. No. Surely she didn't just say-
"I want to see you laughing!" Yaeka smiled, bouncing on her toes. "It can be your atonement for not taking me to the park yesterday like you said."
"N-Now, little lady, I don't think that's very fair. It was pouring down with rain." Kirishima smiled meekly as he petted her hair, desperate to convince her otherwise.
"Are you reeeally going to deny the little lady such a simple request?" Suguhara said with a teasing smirk.
Kirishima grits his teeth at the snarky tone Suguhara used toward him. He knew damn well that Kirishima couldn't handle being tickled! He internally reminded himself where he left the shovel so he could bury those two alive later!
"Well, not necessarily, I just- I just got back from a job and, you know, I'm... Tired." Uh oh, Kirishima was floundering. This wasn't like him at all!
Yaeka folded her arms, puffing her cheeks as she just glared at him.
"Y-Yaeka, please. I-I really don't..." Kirishima sighed, realising he wasn't going to win this one. Yaeka would be grumpy with him if he didn't do this, and that's not what Kirishima wanted.
"Fine. Fine." He grumbled, sitting on the tatami matts with his legs crossed, folding his arms like a kid who'd just been put in time-out.
Yaeka smiled, shuffling to his side before being stopped by Takeuchi.
"Please, allow us, little lady. We wouldn't want you being injured~" He grinned, gently sitting her at a safe distance from Kirishima and his potentially dangerous limbs.
Suguhara sniggered, sitting beside Kirishima, with Takeuchi on the other. The Demon Wakagashira of the Sakuragi family allowing himself to be tickled for his atonement?! This was an opportunity too good to pass up.
"I'm going to kill you guys after this, I swear." The victim grumbled, tensing his whole body as he prepared for the attack, his eyes darting between the two sets of slowly approaching hands, each armed with their own teasing, wriggling digits.
"Worth it~" Suguhara chimed, wriggling his fingers eagerly, knowing very well that anticipation was Kirishima's kryptonite when it came to tickling.
Kirishima snarled at Suguhara.
"Worth it? Oho, you won't be saying that when I-Iiiieeeahaha!" Takeuchi suddenly poked at Kirishima's side, breaking the Yakuza's cold front in mere seconds. The purple-haired man quickly turned to grab Takeuchi's hands, immediately regretting his decision to go through with this.
"Noho! No, no, no. Nope, I've changed my mind. I'm not doing thiiii-ahaha!" A second attack from the other side made Kirishima squeak as he felt his partner's fingers spidering up and down his side.
"Hehey! W-Wahahait! Time out! I-I changed my mihihind!" Kirishima giggled through gritted teeth as he flinched and twisted this way and that as both his attackers took turns poking his sides, making him turn one way then the other, back and forth in a tickly trap.
"Atone for your crimes against lady Yaeka!" Suguhara chimed, his tickling fingers following Kirishima as he flopped onto his back, losing all composure against the devious attack.
Kirishima lost it, and so quickly, too! His loud, boyish laughter filled the room, spilling out into the hallways for all to hear. His ears heated up with a pretty pink glow, matching his rosie cheeks.
"Gehet ohoff! Get off! Noho! Y-You f-Ahaha!" A potentially bad word was cut silenced as his laughter suddenly jumped up in intensity.
"Watch your language there, Kirishiiima~ Not in front of the little lady~" Takeuchi chimed as his hand managed to find its way up inside the Demons cotton shirt that had come untucked in his struggling. Devious digits now pressing and pinching at Kirishimas' lowest set of abs, ripping a huge snort from his throat as he suddenly curled up like a woodlouse, pulling his knees to his chest defensively.
"*Snort* AAAAHahahaaah! NO! Jehehesus! NAAA!" He rolled to one side, hugging himself as his sunglasses slipped from the bridge of his nose and onto the tatami mats.
Little Yaeka watched on from the side, smiling happily as she watched her usually stoic bodyguard turn into a pile of purple haired mush as he laughed freely.
"Aha! N-Nuho! Fwuah-AHA!"
"You're very loud." Yaeka giggled, quietly taking out her phone and taking a photo of Kirishimas toothy smile. His dimples and scrunched up nose would make a lovely contact photo for whenever he texted or called her.
"He is loud, ain't he?" Suguhara sniggered, clawing at Kirishima's belly, watching his higher-up vibrate with laughter.
"Dahahamn it! AHA! E-Enough!" In an attempt to free himself, Kirishima pressed his socked foot against Takeuchi's chest, trying to push him away. "Knock it off!"
A look of terror crossed Kirishima's face as he realised that Takeuchi had gripped his ankle and was staring at him with a menacing smirk.
"Don't. You. Dare."
"Don't I dare, what? Kirishima?" He smirked, moving his flexing fingers closer to the vulnerable foot.
"Tickle my foot."
"I can't believe you really just fell for that! Haha!" Takeuchi laughed as he attacked, scribbling his nails up and down the Demons sole.
"WAAHAHAIT! I-I sahahaid doho-HAHAHAA!" He couldn't handle it. His feet were ridiculously sensitive, and he cursed it every time he was reminded. Like right now.
"Gimme the other!" Suguhara chimed in, grabbing the other ankle and pinning it in an ankle-lock under his arm, starting to scratch at the heel.
Takeuchi and Suguhara looked at each other with a cruel smile before both starting to tease in union.
"Tickle, tickle, tickle~"
"Shudduhup! Shut up, shut up, shut u-AHAHAP!"
"What a ticklish little demon we have here~" Suguhara sang, scribbling under his toes.
"Nohoho! Stahahap!"
"Yes, very giggly and wriggly~ I bet the ghost tickles will last for hours once were done." Takeuchi added, dragging all five nails up and down the length of his foot.
Kirishima was a mess, tears streamed down his face as he tossed and turned on the tatami mats, his hands covering his face in ticklish agony, muffling his laughter. Unable to find the strength to pull his ankles free, all he could do was lay there and laugh, his chest heaving as he sucked in shuddering breaths.
"Mehercy! Plehehease! PLEHEEEEASE!" Kirishima leaned forward, managing to grab Suguharas shirt, trying to pull him back and free himself.
"I sahahaid-! RH!" In one swift movement, Kirishima found a burst of strength and pulled Suguhara back, using the momentum to pull Takeuchi over as well, the two ending up side by side on their backs with Kirishima straddling them both as he panted.
"-Mercy!" He panted, glaring down at his two underlings as they stared in terror.
"Um, K-Kirishima, we were just playing." Kei whined, holding his hands up in submission.
"Yeah! It was for Yaeka! We just wanted to make her happy!" Shogo nodded, looking behind himself at Yaeka for support.
The little lady giggled, walking over and gently placing Kirishimas sunglasses back on his face. "Are you okay? Did they tickle too much?"
"Hah, course' not, little lady. It'll take more than that to take me down." He smiled, gently petting her hair. "Now, why don't I show you how to really make someone laugh?" He asked, smirking down at the two cowering men beneath him.
Tightening his grip around the knife, Arata continued to cut through the hard surface. Moving his blade around, the hole he first made on the pumpkin was finally getting a more friendly and round shape. With one last cut, Arata placed the pumpkin back on the table, checking his work out.
“Sigh, this is harder than I thought,” the inspector complained lightheartedly, smiling back at the recently-carved pumpkin. Arata’s work made it look… not so scary, truth to me told. It was actually a little goofy: round and happy eyes accompanied by a wide smile. But he liked it, nonetheless.
Placing the knife he used back on top of the counter, the inspector looked to his side, determined to check how his friend was doing. “What about you, Kei? How is it going… for… you…”
Arata could barely finish his sentence as his jaw nearly dropped in awe. He was faced by a pumpkin grinning evilly with sharp teeth and narrowed, scary eyes that seemed to look right through him. Kei, spinning the knife in his hand, wore a smug look on his face. “I’m a little out of practice, but I think I did a pretty good job.”
The inspector glanced over Arata’s work, not able to hold back a short giggle that escaped his lips. “Your is.. pfft, nice too.”
“Don’t laugh!” Arata barked, wrapping his arms around his pumpkin as if to protect it.
“I’m not laughing, I mean it. It’s… friendly, like you,” he teased, still managing to look at some of the faces carved into the pumpkin. Maybe making sharp edges was a little too difficult for his partner, he thought. “Come on, let me see it. We still need to find the candles to make the lanterns.”
“No,” Arata muttered, turning his head to the side, “you’ll make fun of it again.”
“What are you, five?” Kei chuckled, crossing his arms. “It was your idea to carve pumpkins for the decorations, no?”
The inspector said proudly, patting the top of the vegetable as if his words somehow hurt its feelings. “I’ll make another one.”
“We don’t have more pumpkins, Arata,” Kei sighed, looking over his shoulder to see a couple of failed attempts. “I can help you adjust it if you want… if that’s even possible,” he almost whispered the last part, trying to reach out of Arata’s pumpkin, just to see the younger inspector take it out of his reach, turning his back to him.
“No,” the brunette said, humphing proudly. Kei snickered at his colleague's attitude, but wouldn’t let him slide off like that. “Well, you asked for this.”
It was almost too easy. With his arms wrapped around the pumpkin, Kei could easily claw at the inspector’s sides, wiggling his fingers up his ribs and almost into his underarms. It took Arata just a couple of seconds to burst into a fit of loud laughter, squirming into his seat as he tried to not fall out of it and, at the same time, keep the vegetable safe in his arms.
“KehEHEi!! AhaHAha, n-not fahahair!” He protested, kicking his feet in the air as he felt his partner tickling over his ribs. “S-stohop tihihickling me!”
“You want to act like a child, then I’m treating you like one,” Kei playfully scolded him, digging a little harder with one hand while he tried to pry Arata’s hands off the pumpkin with the other. “Let go and I’ll stop.”
“NohOHoh, yohohou’ll m-make fuhuhun of mehEHEhe- ah! H-hey, give it back!” Arata cried out, quickly turning around to try to recover his goofy work-of-art.
Now able to get a better look at the way Arata carved it, Kei held it in the air, tilting his head as he judged the other inspector’s work. “Come on, it’s not that bad,” he smiled, ruffling the brunette’s hair. “Maya is waiting for us, let’s go finish the decoration.”
“U-ugh, fine,” he muttered, picking up the pumpkin Kei had carved and following his partner. He was right, after all, these were just the decorations and there was still a whole party to prepare.
A/N: I'm still a bit unsure about how this one turns out - just like Arata with his silly pumpkin - but I'm not stepping back heh
Most of the time, Arata could be considered an example to other agents. He was efficient at his work, knew how to talk with the rest of his team and would even joke around from time to time to help light up the mood.
But, there were moments when he would be… just like a regular person. And this was one of these moments.
Kei yawned as he looked to the other to the boy on his couch, sleeping peacefully. He couldn't blame him, as if it wasn't for the alarm next to his bed, he would probably be doing the same.
Both of them stood up until late the night before, reviewing information of their current case. But work is work, and they would be late if they didn't get ready soon.
"Arata," Kei sighed, gently placing his hand on the boy's shoulder and shaking him, "we have to get ready, come on."
But the only thing he could hear was a soft whine as Arata turned his back on him. The agent sighed, rubbing his eyes for a moment before insisting a little more, being slightly rougher this time. Still, the boy continued to ignore him.
“Arata, what are you, five? We need to get ready…”
“Hnng… five more minutes… please…” He muttered back, being barely audible as the pillow muffed his voice.
Kei shook his head, clicking his lips. Ok. If he wanted to act like a toddler, he would deal with him like he would with a toddler.
“Sure thing… actually, you can sleep all you want,” Kei smirked, using only one hand to start pinching at Arata’s exposed hip.
His fingers were barely touching the boy’s skin and he could already spot a little squirming.
“Kehehei… lehehemme sleehehep…” He giggled quietly, weakly tugging at his partner’s wrist, trying to pry him off his body.
“I did let you sleep, didn’t I?”
“Y-yohohou are tihihickling me…”
“I never said I wouldn’t, though.”
“Thihis is chihIHIDISH- AHAhaha, c-come ohohon,” Arata cackled when the other moved his hand to the spot where his thigh would meet his waist while using his free hand to scribble over his side.
“So are you. If you want me to stop, then get up.”
“Ohohohok- ehehe, q-quihit it,” he cried out softly, finally sitting down. Not really willingly, but ready for another day.
