The kitchen was warm and fragrant, the smell of freshly brewed coffee mixing with the buttery aroma of breakfast. Yuuri stood at the counter, focused on flipping pancakes, humming softly to himself. Victor, seated at the table with Makkachin curled at his feet, watched him with a fond smile.
But Victor Nikiforov was not one to simply sit and watch for long. Mischief glimmered in his pale blue eyes as he stood and approached Yuuri with silent steps, like a cat stalking its prey. When he was close enough, he wrapped his arms around Yuuri’s waist from behind, resting his chin on Yuuri’s shoulder.
“You’re so focused, my little pancake chef,” Victor teased, pressing a quick kiss to Yuuri’s cheek.
Yuuri startled but smiled, leaning slightly into Victor’s touch. “Well, someone has to keep us fed,” he replied, flipping another pancake onto the growing stack. “Now let me finish before they burn—”
Victor cut him off with a laugh, his hands sliding playfully down Yuuri’s sides. “You know, I’ve been thinking,” he said, his voice dripping with faux innocence. “I wonder where your most ticklish spot is... let’s find out!”
Yuuri froze, the spatula slipping from his hand as a sudden jolt of nervous anticipation shot through him. “V-Victor, no—!”
But Victor was already on the attack. His fingers danced along Yuuri’s sides, prodding gently before settling on a spot just above his hips. Yuuri let out a loud squeal, squirming in Victor’s arms as giggles spilled uncontrollably from his lips.
“N-not there!” Yuuri gasped, twisting to escape, but Victor only tightened his hold, grinning like a child discovering treasure.
“Oh? Is this it?” Victor asked, delighting in Yuuri’s laughter. “Or maybe it’s here?” His fingers moved up to Yuuri’s ribs, eliciting a fresh burst of giggles.
“V-Victor, stop!” Yuuri cried, his laughter bubbling over as he leaned forward against the counter, trying to wiggle away. “The pancakes—!”
Victor paused just long enough to glance at the stove, noticing the golden pancakes still sizzling away. “Hmm, you’re right. I don’t want to ruin breakfast.” He leaned in close, his breath warm against Yuuri’s ear. “But I’m not done with you yet.”
With that, Victor withdrew, letting Yuuri catch his breath and turn off the stove. Yuuri grabbed the plate of pancakes and turned to face Victor, his cheeks pink and his eyes narrowed in mock annoyance.
“You’re impossible,” Yuuri said, though the corners of his mouth twitched with a smile.
Victor beamed, unrepentant. “And you love me for it,” he teased, stealing a quick kiss. “Now, finish breakfast quickly, Yuuri, because I fully intend to continue my research after we eat.”
Yuuri groaned, shaking his head as he set the plate on the table. “You’re incorrigible.”
“And you’re adorable,” Victor countered, pulling out a chair for Yuuri with an exaggerated flourish. “Now sit, my love. You’ll need your strength for what’s coming next.”
As they sat down to eat, Yuuri couldn’t help but smile, even as he prepared himself for the inevitable ticklish torment that awaited him. Life with Victor was never boring, and Yuuri wouldn’t have it any other way.
