Hello. I just came from my usual 'I feel awful, must watch your videos to feel better' rewatch. I'm gonna talk out of my ass a bit, cause I know nothing about filming so forgive me. But, the funniest bit to me is timing of when you chose to cut from a character to another. It really adds to the hilarity. Hope that makes sense. So this is basically me asking, how long does it take to edit and do you plan those before filming or? Oh my ignorance is so loud here. Sorry and I love your work so much.

omg don’t apologize! first of all, thank you SO MUCH for watching and supporting my stuff! i’m so happy it can help pick you up when you’re having a bad day. also I could talk about filmmaking for hours so don’t apologize for asking about it! 

SO how long does it take to edit? it really all depends on the video. for some of the smaller videos like the  “enjolras goes missing” and “a message for the king” i went into it with only a tiny idea of what i wanted to happen and then just winged it. so all the comedy really comes in the edit cause i just improv a bunch of shit while filming and pick what’s best in post. that kind of stuff actually takes longer to edit, usually about an hour because I don’t really have a plan and often then have to record pick up shots to make the story all flow together.

for the more planned videos such as “inside grantaire’s head”, “être libre” and “enjolrai get together on june 6th”, i had a rough script 

which i followed while filming so editing was pretty easy and maybe took 30 minutes. 

and then for the long haul vids like “javlog”  and “marius’ vlog”, where i have a story arc planned, scenes planned, but not exact dialogue--filming takes me anywhere from an three hours to all day. And the editing process reflects that cause i have SO MUCH FOOTAGE. 

TL;DR editing videos takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to five hours depending on the video and how much i’ve planned out. i’ve been editing since i was in middle school so knowing where to cut for comedic timing is sort of second nature at this point. thanks for watching!!
