disagree w bw2, they’re more akin to gsc than they are usum. theyre actual new games, they just happen to also be set in unova (but it’s not even the same unova)

i didnt think there was much difference between gs and crystal either tbh. i mean i was glad they added a female character but.... ehhhhh?

i really dont find the stories or characters in pokemon compelling so a sequel to me is a new region and a load of new pokemon for me to catch. i want new places to explore and new designs and evolutions to be suprised by y’know?

if they actually made compelling stories i could see myself enjoying returning to old regions and old pokemon. like i love lots of RPGs that do that its just.. thats not pokemon for me !

so the thing about drawing bgs is if youre drawing a background then the focus isnt on the characters themselves & you have to draw the characters in the environment rather than the environment around the characters if that makes sense..? which like, is a completely different Genre Of Art to character art n basically what im saying is if you don't actually want to draw bgs you dont need to at all & it doesnt detract frm yr art!!

LIKE... it can definitely feel like drawing characters in a void is like Not Enough but the thing is! the focus is just on the characters themselves n theres absolutely nothing wrong w that, forcing in a background around them would only detract from the actual focus of the art you know ??

oh of course! i do feel like until i got good i would be drawing an environment around characters vs them actually Being in it...

i dont know though, i dont think the cold white void suits it very much but then again i never have the energy or motivation or general reason to even add some splashes of color or triangles or anything in there to influence a “mood” even further and it upsets me in a weird “well just do it then stupid 😒” way,,,even some of my faves who mainly draw on white or grey occasionally draw environments that are stunning fghdjfdg,,,,
