Little poem by me. No title yet.

With my eyes tightly closed

My breath closely held to my chest

I let my left foot peak out

Left is where my heart resides

And here I search for courage,

The courage to break free

I look to leave the box which I have been meticulously placed

By my blood, by friends, by religion, tradition, culture

But most importantly by myself

But fear once again take hold of me

She is stronger than my left foot

For, in all honesty,

I am terrified of the way the world treats those who break free.

“Stay with me,” she said. Slowly she kissed my forehead, my nose, my lips, down to my neck. I pulled her close to feel the warmth of her breathe. Gently, she played with my hair, lingering her fingers on my back down to my legs. Her lips pressing against my shoulders sent shivers down my spine. Her presence gave me that excruciating sensation of longing for her. She is an angel with a demon’s body, a perfect statue in a gruesome display, a snake who teased Eve, the sanctuary I will miss, the haven I can never keep.

The night was ours to remember forever. Tonight will be the best night I will always treasure. I looked at her fast asleep. One last kiss. One last touch. One last look… Before saying I do to someone I barely know, before becoming a wife for a deal made long before I was born.
