You Make My Heart Go Bing Bing!
hey there, I need some advice while I build up a little area in a world called Esther in the sims 3. So I currently have two gothic styled victorian houses beside one another, one is dark coloured and the other is white as if they were for a good and then a bad witch. The problem is that I build other houses near them in a different style and it doesn't look quite right. So is there any advice on how to build more houses beside it and not looking strange?
Ooh, sounds fun! I’m building up a TS2 world at the moment and I’m trying to do the same thing.
I almost always look up reference pictures of the style of house I’m trying to build. That’s what I find most helpful to get an eye for the distinctive features of that style. So when I’m building two houses side by side in the same style, I pick out a few features of that style and make sure each house uses them, but in slightly different ways.
These two are a good example. I have these houses opposite one another, so I wanted them to complement one another but still look distinctive. Each has a covered front porch, a little balcony above the porch, a turret, a driveway on the side leading up to a covered side porch, and a sunroom above the side porch. Those are just the main features. But the style of front porch is slightly different, one balcony is more open while the other is enclosed with an arch, the turrets are on opposite sides, and the sunroom above the porches are in different shapes. I also used exterior siding from the same set, but in different colors, and that helps tie them together as well.
Hope that helps!
