So Charley herself would not call herself butch. She does dress masculine though within a professional aesthetic. She likes ties, long big blazers, only wears pants. Short nails, no jewelry ever and hates every show that isn’t a running shoe. She wears boxers instead of more traditional feminine underwear. Doesn’t bind because it hurts but doesn’t really wear bras either unless it’s a sports bra. It just happens that dressing is simplistic which she is all about. A real minimalist

From what I’ve been told being butch is not only dressing a certain way and being a lesbian but also part of a subculture which Charley is not.

In the 70s lesbians were either butch or femme though. Masc wasn’t yet a more common term
