Taking a closer look at @vacheronconstatin’s 2020 Les Collectionneurs collection of restored vintage timepieces. One of my favourite annual launches within the world of haute horlogerie. On my wrist is the famous Triple Calendar reference launched in 1942 which quickly became an emblematic VC signature due to its recognisable gadroons case design and “cow horn” shaped lugs. This particular timepiece was manufactured in 1947 and features a striking 18K gold dial. Launched at the end of 1954, this extremely rare @vacheronconstantin chronograph was only in production for one year :1955. The 1950's was a decade of elegance and refined designs in watch- making. The Reference 6026 is a nice example of a pure, clean and balanced design from this era. Considering its birth year the watch has an unusually large case size of 36.5mm and is fitted with long angular lugs, giving this watch a much more modern feel. The chronograph’s large diameter and stylish appearance makes it a particularly collectable vintage wristwatch with less than 20 of its kind. Exploring @vacheronconstantin’s Les Collectionneurs 2021 collection. An extraordinary assembly of restored museum worthy pieces dating back to as far as 1910 and up until the retro 1990’s. I am here taking a closer look at @VacheronConstantin's first World time pocket watch. Born in 1932, this complication is capable of showing the times of the 24 time zones all on the same dial, rotating with the movement. In my discovery of @vacheronconstantin’s Les Collectionneurs 2020 collection a fascinating timepiece stood out from the rest, a horological design unlike any that I have yet come across; The Jumping Hours Gentleman’s wristwatch or the “Chronoscope”. A result of a Robert Cart patented movement from late 1920’s. The system was adapted to Vacheron Constantin pocket watches and wristwatches like for reference 3189 in the 1930. However, in 1994 @vacheronconstantin relaunched a jumping hour wristwatch, “Heures Sautantes”. And what a treat it was! To honour the 1930’s invention, the dial of the re-editon was carefully decorated with a similar gilloche pattern to the original. Another highlight of the collection is the Jubile in 18k yellow gold from 1936 (seen on on 5th picture). It was created for the 150th anniversary of Vacheron Constatin, which, back then, was believed to have been established in 1785.
