3 New Names That Made a Splash at NYC Fashion Week
Designer: Alejandra Alonso Rojas
The Spanish designer has moved passed À Moi, in order to create a different type of brand this season that focused on sophistication and maturity on various levels. With much of the collection showcasing blush and slate tones, Rojas made her brand’s debut with a fair share of hand-painted silks and hand crafted Italian leathers, adding a layer of artisanal quality to the clothing. As Rojas is a fourth-generation knitter, she will continue to weave or knit various pieces of clothing to continue the familial tradition in her new, elegant brand.

During the Fall 2016 Fashion Show, NYC definitely had an interesting designer to show them the versatility and innovation of design. Queens-born designer and Kith founder, Ronnie Fieg, wasted no time when it came to crafting edgy, 90s looks, while also providing collaborative collection for both men and women. This sort of collaborative direction allowed fashion lovers to wear his collection from everywhere to the beach to the mountains. His collection was topped off with special performances by Ma$e, Ja Rule and A$AP Rocky to give his collection a special, in your face NYC kick.
Designer: Lyz Olko
Lyz Olko’s sophomore collection called Watch the Skies was showcased in the grunge, intimate-like Elvis Guesthouse in the East Village. Olko’s performance also showed artistic innovation with the performance by the girl band Pretty Sick. A huge portion of the Watch the Skies’ aesthetic was focused on space, sci-fi, NASA, and extraterrestrials, which perfectly complemented the collection.
