Had a chance to play one of my ultimate dream #guitars yesterday on my first guitar outing in 18 months: 1961 #LesPaul #SGCustom. . And it was, without any trace of hyperbole, f*cking incredible! Not one...not two...but THREE 3 #PAFs! . In fact this may be the first time I have ever had a chance to spend any real time with PAFs through an #amp! I mean...I have picked up PAF-equipped #Gibson guitars before in various shops over the years and noodled acoustically, but never plugged them in and spent really serious time listening to them. Man, everything they say about PAFs is true...they are super responsive to attack and extremely dynamic. I played these through a tweed #Fender Deluxe which provided extremely ragged overdrive with guitar volume on 10, but cleaned up nicely as soon as you backed the volume off. You could essentially go from drive to clean with no pedals required, just controlling the volume on the guitar. I also tried it through an early 60s brown Fender Super. Not so much overdrive at full volume (a lot more headroom than the 50s narrow panel Deluxe), but still a lot of edge and bite to it...and really warm and round with the volume backed off and a bit of tremolo added in.
