That’s exactly my point. Most of these genres take the word “punk” out of context and just use it to mean something that’s really better stated as “alternative.”

Something that’s punk is crusty, DIY, anti-establishment, usually bent towards nihilism, and, yes, alternative thinking. But not JUST alternative thinking.
