upon becoming an idol, noel had realized he didn’t know many youtube channels nor variety shows, so generally when vybe was invited to a variety show or a youtube channel, noel didn’t really know what he was going into. this was the case once again, ‘k-star next door’, he honestly had no idea what this was, he’d never even managed to hear about it. they’ll be filming in a bit, noel is still sitting on his phone, texting his sister before the cameras roll. remembering how big of a kpop fan his sister is, shouldn’t she know something?

→ sister? could you tell me something about k-star next door? he waits for a bit, then she replies → i’m about to work, i’ll tell you after ah, guess he won’t know then, they’re about to film, and he still has no knowledge that they’ll be doing

the host is fun, and noel quickly finds himself more relaxed than nervous, initially nervous as hell, now more comfortable and excited to answer questions. and then a question gets shot his way: “wook if your group were in a zombie apocalypse, who would survive the longest and why?”. the question is so random noel has never thought of it before, but so far on the show they’ve both had unserious questions and some more serious.

though it’s not a particularly serious question, noel still finds himself giving it some thought before answering “to be honest? i think everyone in vybe besides me would die within the first hour” he shrugs “i can see myself surviving long in a zombie apocalypse, i have a lot of useful talents, like i’m good at swimming and running, know how to survive out in the wild and such, but… i just can’t see my members surviving for long”. “i hope my members won’t be too offended… siwoo, kian, if you’re watching this, i apologize!".

“ah but in the end, i’d save my members, i’m not gonna survive all by myself, we’re a team after all”.

noel had wished for more solo schedules, and at last he had gotten one. he enjoyed doing the many things he did along his fellow vybe members, but he was excited for this, an opportunity to show himself to the fans, perhaps a side he hadn’t shown before.

“before becoming an idol, i had only ever done my own make up before, my sister practiced sometimes on me, but it’s totally different when it’s a professional that does it” noel speaks as risabae starts applying some make up on him. “i also never realized how bad my style was until someone else styled me” a short laugh leaves his mouth.

“it honestly still feels weird that i managed to debut, and i realized once i debuted, you can’t really prepare yourself for being an idol before you are one, you can guess and expect, but you won’t know before you debut and become one”. “being a rookie idol means i’m really busy, there’s always something on my schedule, whether it’s practice, fansigns, variety shows or something like this” noel nods his head slightly, forgetting he’s getting his make up done.

“do you have any special talents?” “ah… i don’t think my fans know either of these yet, but i can play the guitar, kind of good if i have to say it myself” he giggles “and i do speak three languages, english and korean, and then japanese, which i’m not the best at yet, but we have some japanese fans so i want to get better at it for them”. “for some more unserious talents… i can eat watermelon really quickly, and i once won a pancake eating competition, eating fifteen pancakes in thirty minutes, man did i feel unwell at last though…”.

noel finds it comforting and fun to speak about himself, letting the fans know more about him while he tries something different from his usual schedule.

noel is standing still while someone else fixes his make up, does some retouches. he still hasn’t completely gotten used to it, having his hair styled, make up done and somebody else choosing his outfits. but for something like this he understands why he isn’t doing his own hair nor make up nor choosing his own outfits. 

it honestly feels unbelievable, that vybe is already preparing for their first comeback, that the reason why he’s getting his make up retouched is because they’re filming the music video. he’s chatted a lot with his fellow members, but he’s also been alone a lot, stuck in his own thoughts. he likes the song, and the choreography was fun to learn, he’ll probably be dancing it a lot today, and when their comeback gets released he’ll probably dance to it even more. 

it still feels unbelievable that he really debuted, that he’s really having his first comeback soon. he’s gotten more used to being on cameras, next gen didn’t make him ready for that, but everything he’s done with vybe has, he’s not nervous today like he was when filming their first music video, no his excitement wins by far today. 

the song was catchy, choreography fun, and the music video had been fun filming for so far, noel was sure, this comeback would be a success.

while noel was confident in his looks, he still did feel a bit awkward modelling. while noel still had his instagram, he would rarely ever post. for someone who is so confident in his looks, it’s a bit weird how few selfies he takes of himself. originally when noel became a trainee at lime he figured he wouldn’t need modelling for anything as he wasn’t a model, it was mostly first when project green started he realized, hey, being an idol includes a lot more than he had expected.

so far he hadn’t heard or seen anyone complain about his teaser photos, so he couldn’t be that bad at posing in front of a camera? or who knows, maybe it’s the editing that saved his ass. the real fun in these modeling gigs is the being styled part. while noel knows how to do his own make up and hair, there’s something so special about having a professional do it. and usually noel has basically no sense of fashion, so it’s nice to be styled in something that’s trendy and looks good on him.

he’s still not alone while modeling, and that does help, even for the solo shoots, it’s nice when his members are right there to hype him up. he doesn’t struggle much with his facial expressions, it’s more how to pose that makes all of this difficult. luckily for noel, the person taking pictures is good at guiding, and when noel sees the pictures he’s taken, he actually feels a bit proud about them, maybe he wouldn’t mind doing some more modelling in the future.

funny happenings

it was still hard to believe that they had officially made their debut, and that now they were doing their debut show case. noel had fun performing their different songs, even siren, a song that definitely wasn’t his taste. noel was excited to meet fans, it seemed like they’d been able to gain some fans pre-debut, and there definitely were people out there excited for their debut. noel is having fun with it all, learning choreographies, being in the studio, filming music videos. he thought his passion was dance, but perhaps it truly was to be an idol.

noel lifts up the microphone to his lips, they’re talking about fun happenings that happened as they prepared for their debut, and noel has a story that at least did make him laugh a bit. “there was one day i got home quite late from practice, so for the next day when i had to go to practice again i didn’t get much sleep… i woke up and basically went straight to practice because i had woken up a bit too late, i walked into the practice room and around ten maybe fifteen minutes in i’m thinking to myself ‘why aren’t they practicing the right choreography?’ it turns out i walked into the wrong practice room and it took me more than ten minutes to notice” a short laugh escapes his lips “i luckily only made that mistake once”.

tik tok challenge #1

sure, noel had technically had a tik tok account before that was quite successful, but his tik tok account had been all about his pets, he didn’t even show his face. noel had never learned a tik tok dance before, and he wasn’t really sure if that was something he’s like to start doing. it felt a bit weird for noel to do an easier version of their song, but he figures, if it’s easier it’ll be easier to learn too, which means more people might do it. noel doesn’t have that much knowledge about tik tok and the app’s trends, but if there’s a possibility of promoting his group, of course he’ll do it.

he’s practiced the easy version of their song, pretty easy to learn since he’s quick at learning and well… it’s quite simple and easy. he finds himself in front of the camera, still not fully adapted to being in front of cameras, but he does the dance like he’s seen and taught himself. ending the tik tok with putting two peace signs in front of his eyes, creating a “w” as his stage name now is wook, he’s not sure if that’s his thing now or not, but it felt right in the moment.

upcoming debut

noel was quite pleasantly surprised with the songs they’d be debuting with, though he still remained not the biggest fan of siren (besides the dance, he loved the dance for siren), the other songs were quite nice listening to. noel was satisfied with their upcoming debut, the songs definitely being songs he would listen to himself. noel desperately wanted to play the songs for his sister, hear her opinion, but he knew that had to wait, he couldn’t speak about vybe, even though he quite wanted to.

the month starts with learning the choreographies, something noel definitely doesn’t mind, he’s gotten quite quick at learning choreographies, and his love for dance is as big as ever. it’s fun practicing along his members, learning the dances together. then comes the recording, which he feels less confident in, but his members are comforting, and this not being his first time in the recording studio definitely helps. the photos and filming the teasers are his favourite part apart from dancing, he’s having quite a lot of fun, he’s been a hand model before, but this is different, in a fun way.

the music video filming comes around again, and noel feels a lot more comfortable about this after the whole filming in belgium, though he wouldn’t have minded travelling somewhere fun again. the song is fun to film for, and noel truly can’t wait to film more music videos in the future.

how to react to a love confession?

noel isn’t unfamiliar with getting love confessions, he got quite a lot during high school, and though the amount went down after he graduated, the love confessions did not vanish. noel’s popular, always has been, and he’s for some reason quite easy to fall for.

if the feelings weren’t mutual noel blinks, he almost doesn’t want her to finish, almost wants to interrupt her, but wouldn’t that be rude? he’s not interested in everything she has to say, she’s said enough, it’s obvious, this is another love confession. he stands still as he listens, as she compliments him and lets him know how long she's liked him and why she likes him. noel finds it brave of her to confess her feelings, of course he does, especially with how he always turns people down, never really a successful confession yet people keep trying. it seems like she’s finished, and she’s ended up too shy to look him in the eyes, her eyes fixed on the ground instead, her cheeks red. a sigh escapes noel’s lips, however how many times he must do this, it doesn’t exactly ever get easier. “i’m not interested” she looks up “not just in you, nobody to be truthful”. it’s been years since he dated, but truth is he’s still not over his first love, and he can’t attempt to love someone else knowing he won’t love them like he loved his first and last boyfriend. maybe some day he’ll be able to love someone like that again, but not yet. “i’m sorry, i really am, i’m thankful for your confession, but i’m not looking to date right now” again, forced to turn someone down.

if the feelings were mutual noel’s been unable to crush on anyone since his last boyfriend, sometimes wondering if he’d ever get to feel that kind of feeling again, but at last he has. there’s someone he likes, but he’s shy about it, fearing if he confessed then he’d be turned down. he knows what it’s like to turn someone down, not how to be turned down. and he finds himself with the very person he has a crush on, fiddling with the end of his sleeves, smiling at every word she says. “noel” she speaks his name, and he’s quick to look at her, every word she says bringing him joy, “i like you, like like you” his eyes widen and he stares at her for a few seconds. “would you be my girlfriend then?” he questions, getting straight to the point, if he likes her and she likes him, wouldn’t this be the most obvious answer? to date.
