UTDR drawtober day 21-30
First - Previous / Next
I love the skeleton bunny I gave SwapFell, lol.
The last spread was actually the last of the original Sans we had on the wheel, so these are the in-between challenge pages where me and Jelly were looking for more to add. And fun fact, this was the first time I had ever drawn Tear, lol.
So, from these pages we decided to add Tear, Fatal, Swapfell, and Color (who will be seen on later pages) to the next round of our game, lol.
I also just drew a bunch of random characters I felt like drawing at the time~
Sidenote, the pen really screwed me over here Kuz I realllyyy wanted to change where I placed X Gaster, lol
Happy pride month to all the non-binary/gender non-conforming characters in UT whos identities get constantly erased by the community
I wish I could release the animatic. I'm so hyped for it, but it's still nowhere near done
Royal Guards and random dude
Looking at Deltarune Chapter 5 through the lens of the Reverse Undertale theory
Papyrus was the most overtly heroic boss character in Undertale, being able to control his powers to the point of merely incapacitating Frisk instead of killing them and appealing to their better nature in the Genocide Route, a move that actually got a bunch of players to give up on their Genocide runs. Flowery takes this aspect and cranks it up a notch, being modeled after your typical anime hero to the point of using the power of friendship and Deltarune's Mercy mechanics and merely placing the heroes right before his boss encounter instead of killing them outright.
Papyrus was originally intended to be a purposefully abrasive character, being your stereotypical fedora-wearing toolbag. Flowery fulfills this role in a more subtle way, looking like a cliche anime hero with an uninspired design on the surface.
Pink is the secret boss of the chapter and is a clear counterpart to Undertale Switch's Mad Mew Mew, who was located in Snowdin.
The Tough Glove and Manly Bandana, items associated with the Orange Soul, are found in Snowdin. Deltarune Chapter 5 finally introduces an Orange Soul mode.
The flowers' relationship with Asgore can be compared to a more worshipful version of UT!Sans and UT!Toriel's relationship.
The flowers also serve the general role of a colorful bunch of mini-boss characters, not unlike a more complicated version of the Snowdin Canine Unit.
Sans is notably one of the only constants on the Normal Route and the Weird Route for this chapter.
While Flowery's awareness of Deltarune's meta elements is more obviously a reference to Flowey's, Sans is also infamous for exploiting Undertale's UI.
Just as spring comes after winter, the Flower Kingdom came out a long time after Snowdin.
