Ok so I have this really cheap pair of headphones that I use everyday and today I accidentally dropped them. When I went to use them after that one side was much quieter than the other and something inside it was rattling really bad.
My first thought was that I'd have to throw them away and buy a new pair, and that thought immediately annoyed me because I realized that that was my internalized over consumption talking.
I mean the headphones still somewhat functioned and throwing them away would be creating e-waist which is super bad for the environment, so I decided to try to open them up and see if I could do something to fix them.
Mind you I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and have zero idea of how headphones are even supposed to work, but I figured that I'd be able to know what was wrong because I guess it would have looked out of place (????)
So I opened them up and low and behold the rattling was coming from the little speaker component that had detached from where it was supposed to be fixed to!! The reason the volume was so much lower on that side was because it was literally further away from my ear. So I just had to glue it back in place and close the headphone back up, and when I tried them back on they worked perfectly as new!!
The feeling of being able to fix the issue on my own and being able to salvage my beloved headphones cannot be matched by drugs I fear :D
Moral of the story: NEVER LISTEN TO THAT LITTLE VOICE THAT TELLS YOU THAT YOU CAN'T DO SOMETHING JUST BC YOU DON'T KNOW HOW AND LET HUBRIS GUIDE YOU!!!!!
also limit your e-waist :]
