Adrien found himself worried as more things around the shoot kept going wrong. They had so many set backs that he had heard the photographer mention something about postponing the shoot for another time. In that moment fear gripped Adrien around the throat since he knew his father would not be happy, even if most of these set backs were caused by his very presence.
Just as he had expected, all it took was one more slight hiccup and his father exploded. One poor intern had ripped his pants trying to adjust the set and while it wasn’t a big deal that was Gabriel’s last straw. Though instead of lashing out at the crew for messing up the set, the photographer for not having all his equipment or the model that was late and being difficult to deal with. Gabriel set his fury to Adrien who was patiently waiting as he had been ready to work almost an hour ago.
Gabriel’s tantrum could be heard throughout the whole building as he told Adrien how useless and pathetic he was. The poor boy stood there as he was berated for things outside his control.
Most of the people there thought that Adrien might cry when suddenly Adrien grabbed a near by newspaper and threw it at Gabriels face. Everyone in the set was shocked beyond belief and they could have sworn there was laughter coming from Adrien’s chest but no one dared to say anything.
“You have exactly one second to explain yourself young man,” Gabriel roars at his son. “Oh it’s simple Gabriel, you are a heartless man who doesn’t care about the planet.”
Everyone stares at the young Agreste in confusion until he points at the newspaper on the floor. In big bold letters the papers title says “You can Save the World.”
“There are so many problems the world has to deal with and it is all your fault. I can’t believe how fucking selfish you’re being.”
Gabriels eyes are ice cold as he stares at his son and very threateningly he asks, “What?”
With the biggest smile they have ever seen on Adrien he responds, “Well Gabriel, if you are going to blame me for things that I don’t control then I can certainly blame you for all the world’s problems.”
Adrien turns around and leaves. He pops his head back in the room and glares at Gabriel, “And in case it wasn’t clear, yes you do look that stupid when blaming people for things outside of their control.”
This was inspired by @mikauzoran from her latest chapter in “I'm Learning to Love (Walking Away from Things)” which you can check out at the link below.
I truly wish it was this easy for Adrien to stand up for himself but alas that is not the case.
