Claire: "Ellen Burstyn is really taking me on a ride today. I identify with her emotional life as an actress and also the development she went through as a woman. Her self-blame for her physicality and the way men treat her is remarkable. She responds to being a victim of sexual assault in a way that is unique to anything I've ever read or experienced in art. As women we don't get to verbalize 'the why' often enough. We'll hear about a victim of assault but we don't understand why she has shame. Ellen takes us there and gives us a book that's beautifully written.
