“Mother.” You hum, rolling over in bed as you tried to blink the sleep from your eyes. “Shinki? Is everything alright?” His grunts, stepping closer. “Everything is fine. Just..” His voice cuts off as he looks away.

That's when you notice it. A tray with all your favorite breakfast food and the special tea your doctor prescribed to help with your morning sickness.

“Shinki what is this?” You say, sitting up. “Today is Mother's Day and you are my mother.” You laugh quietly, taking the tray from him. “Why thank you Shinki. You didn't have to wake up early for me.” He shrugs, tips of his ears red.

You look over at your husband, fast asleep. A rare sight to see. Normally he was already at the Hokage Tower but he told you last night that he was home for the entire day. Claimed any problems they can deal handle without him.

“I wanted to beat father.” You smiles, moving your legs. “Join my Shinki. This is too much for just one person.” He sighs, reluctantly joining you on the bed. The mattress dips as he sits on the edge.

“Thank you Shinki. You are the best son any mother could ask for.” He looks up, a rare shade of insecurity in those emerald green eyes. “Really?”

Your heart clenches at his soft voice, one that reminded you of when he first joined your family. You lean forward, cupping his cheek.

“Yes of course. You are my special boy. The missing piece of our family. I love you so much Shinki.” He leans into your touch, nuzzling gently. “Thank you mother.”

Gaara groans as he sits up. “What? What's going on?” His sand rises, prepared for an attack. “Gaara honey, we're good. Just a nice breakfast in bed.” He nods, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. “Oh.” His eyes widen at the sight. He turns to you, lips curling into a soft smile. “Happy Mother's Day wife.”

Leaning back, you rub your bump. “That was delicious Shinki. Who knew you were the chef of the family.” Gaara says, ruffling the boy's hair. Shinki rolls his eyes, leaning into your side.

“Somebody has to be able to cook when mother gets put on bed rest.” You try to protest but neither of them let you. “Happy Mother's Day.” Shinki whispers. You kiss the top of his head. “Thank you my sweet boy.”
