Guess who’s back; back again.

It may or may not have been two years since I last posted here, but hey, better late than never?

So much has happened, and I feel like I’m in a good place to talk about it finally. So hit me up with some Q’s if you’d like someone to chat to :)

I had someone confront me today on why I choose to celebrate or acknowledge religious occasions and holidays, despite the fact that I lean towards  Pantheism as a "religious" belief. To put it simply, No I do not believe in many things regarding *biblical teachings*. I consider these things a collection of narcissistic and imaginative stories, meant to drive formality and deviations away from nature due to one's uncomfortable position on matters such as sex, gender, race etc. Sex is sex. Gender is gender. Race is race. I do not believe for one minute, that an omnipotent being, capable of shifting continents and sprouting life from grains of sand in perfect formation, would be beyond offended if I kissed a girl, or masturbated, or didn't bother to go to church. And to add insult to injury, said omnipotent being only requires a few words of penance, a holy act of absolution such as fasting and ALL is forgiven.....until the sinner sins again and we repeat the process.  Holy books were written by philosophers, by poets, by disciples of life, by men, by inspired farmers, potters, thieves and priests alike. Then they were contorted by religious houses, parliaments, Kings, Emperors, village chiefs, all aiming for the ultimate goal of CONTROL. I am by no way saying that religion itself was made to control, and that's where I will nose dive into why I celebrate religious occasions. Religion has the ability to teach kindness, empathy, chivalry, justice, love, comradery, unconditional sacrifice for something or someone. Occasions like Easter and Christmas, which teaches thanks-giving, betrayal, peace and war. Eid, which teaches self- respect, sacrifice, brotherhood and self-control. Phagwah which teaches joy, beauty, hope and art. ...just to name the top few... These are the doors of Religion I will always go through. This is what religion is. It teaches you about the world, about the mind, the soul, the body. Cause and effect, problem and solution. It is the candle that burns when everything is flooding in darkness. It's the small piece of advice that teaches, if not the RIGHT thing, the PROPER thing. The PEACEFUL thing. And although I do not conform to any religion explicitly, I will always acknowledge it's overall existence and the good (along with bad for the bad teaches us things as well) that it births. And that's just how my cookie is gonna crumble. Hope that answered your question.

Woodsedge Tavern

Ruby started toward her first night behind the bar; it had been far too long since she felt the pounding bass in her chest without the numbing of alcohol already in her system. The music gradually became louder, the beat stronger and faster, as she made her way down the stairs. She could hear people talking, or more yelling in order to be heard over the music. She could hear laughter and taunting. Billard balls clanging together as someone played a game in the back of the bar. An electronic ding as someone scored in darts. A glass shattered on the floor, probably due to the clumsy bar-back she was replacing... Ruby was looking forward to this distraction. After the day she had at the Town Hall, she needed it. Elissa was incredibly helpful, if not almost too friendly. Ruby wanted to trust her but she was still a bit wary. Of course, the actual trip itself had been a waste of precious time. How would she ever find out who was responsible for all the terrible things in her life if she could never get to the bottom of the original mystery... She slowly pushed the door open at the bottom of the stairs, careful not to hit anyone yet slightly distracted by her thoughts. As if on cue, someone strutted right toward her as she walked through the entry way. She felt their drink cover her abdomen and hear the glass break as it hit the floor, "Oh, my.. I didn't see you there!" She pulled her shirt away from her stomach as the cold liquid spread and tried to wring it out a bit. "Let's get this cleaned up, shall we?" Finally looking up, she fake smiled at the person in front of her, expecting the clumsy server. The fake smile turned into a surprised one and finally an embarrassed one. "I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else."

Watched Nana, the anime

Reloaded Tumblr for 6 hours while exploring new users.

Played a rainstorm on my iPod b/c it just felt like a rainy day, even tho it never rains in southern California, as those who came before me have said.

I felt a twinge of guilt about this until I remembered: I'm 30. I moved across the country from my judgy, red state, homo-hating family almost a year and a half ago. I've been living and working with the SF occupiers and embracing their CA hippie ways and loving the hell out of it. I don't have to live the laced up, suburban, self-hating lifestyle anymore.

(Plus, I work saturdays, so it's not THAT shameful to take Monday as a weekend day.)

There's a thing in an artist's life called a fallow period, and it's real, and necessary. Art isn't something you can churn out on a schedule like a TPS report, but if you can do that, I admire you. Some people can. Most artists need time to just. do. nothing.

Except we're not doing 'nothing.' We're planning, thinking, reflecting, getting our ducks aligned, processing, getting real life shit taken care of (yeah right).

It's okay to do nothing. When you're a grown up, you get to chose how you use your time and how high Mt. Laundry can grow, because your mom? Is a 6 hour plane ride away and that thing you suspected when you were age 3, 14, 16, 22 -- that Mom didn't 'get you'? You were right. She loves you, but she doesn't get you. You're on your own, so make your own decision, and make them well.
