Why I'm not Excited for (the possibility of) Lethal Weapon 5
Does everyone understand why a reboot of the Lethal Weapon film franchise would be BAD? Everytime I see an article about the possible upcoming Lethal Weapon 5 my heart breaks a little.
If there is a Lethal Weapon 5 the Lethal Weapon TV show will most likely be canceled.
Back when The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TSCC) was coming out (2008-2009) something happened that could very well happen with Lethal Weapon. Warner Brothers (WB) owns the rights to the Terminator franchise so Fox was paying WB for each episode they made of TSCC. However WB decided that they were gonna make a new Terminator movie (Terminator Salvation) and they wanted TSCC to air only up until the movie came out to drum up buzz around the franchise but not steal the limelight from the new film.
TCSS was super popular and white successful but because of the reboot of the film franchise WB forced Fox to cancel the show before it's time by driving up the prices so high Fox couldn't afford to make the show anymore.
This same thing could possibly happen with Lethal Weapon if the studio decides they don't want two different Lethal Weapon stories being told at the same time.
This didn't happen yet with The Flash (CW) even though he's in Justice League and getting his own film but part of that could be because of the nature of superhero stories and The Flash in particular because of it's tendency toward multiple universes/timelines.
So yeah TL;DR I'm not excited for the possibility of Lethal Weapon 5 because I'm afraid Lethal Weapon (TV show) will get cancelled.
