Life with the Leonards
I took a break from my legacy save (again) to explore a bit more of another simmer’s save (jenba-sims). Anyway, I’m currently in the Leonard household. The family dynamic intrigued me and I felt compelled to explore this different take on love/obligation. The Story: the husband & wife are pretty much estranged (the relationship is listed as a “bad match” in the relationship panel) and it seems they stay together out of obligation more than love. In my game, Conrad (the husband) has found some love outside the marriage (my guess is he’s excited to feel desirable), but the wife (Sienna) has only a relationship with her sons, Edward (father unknown) and a little “preemie” named Jefferson. Sienna’s a non-committal sim but she does love her boys*. (*See the wonderful backstory provided by the creator at the end of this story) Shortly after I arrived in the house, I see the love/hate between Conrad and Sienna. He tries to flirt with her but she brushes him off. They yell and insult each other on a whim. Sienna finds comfort in painting and admiring the artwork in the house. Conrad takes out his frustrations by writing short stories and playing games.
One day, after work, the “other woman”, Ingrid, calls Conrad to go out to the club. He says yes. After some dancing and a few drinks, things heat up dramatically, and before you know it, they’re in the closet doing the woohoo. (Oh, my) During the act, Conrad discovers a secret about Ingrid – she’s an alien!! He’s not afraid (he’s a big geek, so sci-fi is awesome), but he hasn’t much time to process things because off to work he must go again. (yes, he stayed out all night–naughty man) >}:-) Meanwhile, at home, the kids entertain each other with this new object the house just got–a chessboard and Sienna finds herself looking for something to do. Conrad arrives home from work and Sienna comes over and hollers “where have you been?!?” Conrad replies “I’m sorry baby, I had this big deadline at work and had to go in early”. Sienna is relieved that he’s back and expresses to him she needs some fun. Conrad whispers to her, “I know what you need” and they go under the covers for a bit of woohoo. Later that night when the household is asleep, Conrad is compelled to check out a light outside the house. Ingrid’s “friends” have come to probe Conrad! ✨ The next morning, he wakes with a tummy ache. He’s having trouble accepting the news and talks it over with a friend over a game of chess. Sienna notices his stomach is growing and also talks with Conrad. He tells her about the weird light (omitting the Ingrid fling) and they wonder together what could it be?! Three days later, he’s admitted to the hospital and Ruby is born. Both parents are flabbergasted with the news, but decide to take the little girl home and care for her as one of their own. After all, their family is already blended with the boys, so what’s one more? Winter comes and goes, Ruby is a toddler now exploring all over the place; the boys are doing well in school and are getting along great for the most part. Jefferson loves his science table (present from mom&dad) and Edward loves to draw and occasionally bang around on this small piano his stepdad got him for Winterfest. It’s Love Day in the house today. Jefferson is nervous about completing his resolution on time, but goes to school and has a good day. Edward though has an awful day because the card he designed is rejected and tossed aside. Edward comes home dejectedly and gives a flower to his mom, but she doesn’t like it. “It’s like school all over again!” he yells at Sienna. Mom comforts him and he feels better and he goes out to complete a project with Jefferson (who’s happy because he just finished his resolution). Conrad comes home from work and he and Sienna celebrate the rest of Love Day together. Early that next morning (about 4am, still dark out), Conrad gets a (booty)call from Ingrid to meet him at the bluffs. He quietly gets up from the bed and sends her a loving email and then starts to write a new short story book. As he finishes the book, he’s called to investigate another light outside. He comes back from his little tip feeling very focused and a bit hungry, so he gets something to eat. While the watcher (me) is getting the rest of the house up and ready for the day, I hear that eery alien sound….yup, he has another tummy ache. Here we go again! 👀 ✨😆
