Okay so here we go?
1.What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
I don’t have any OTPs I don’t get most of the time I can see why people like two people together however I do hate it when people constantly say they are only meant for each other I mean that gets so annoying so fast I can’t stand it.
5.Do you have a NoTP in DC?
I dislike all the Batman +his kids ship and all the ships between the adopted kids too. I don’t get why people ship Bruce with his kids or his kids with each other, every time someone makes a post about the bat family, I must go and check the OP’s tags to make sure it’s not ship related. Also, I hate most of the ships Dick Grayson is in mainly because the fandom pair him with everyone to justify the “player” persona they falsely built around him. Also, some people mention a harem of old men (Batman, Owlman, Deathstroke, Midnighter [who is happy with Apollo], Tiger and now Raptor) that lust after him and honestly that makes me ill because one of things that fandom love to do is pair older men with young people and that is genuinely nasty.
6.Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Dickbabs. Growing up Babs was my hero, disabled superhero who kicks ass, little five-year-old me loved Babs so much because she made me feel much cooler when I was in my chair. So naturally I grew up reading about Dick and Barbara and I liked their dynamic as Nighwing and Oracle and honestly it’s so rare to show disabled people in relationships that this flagship couple had a wheelchair bound women in it warmed my small gay heart. But everything changed when the new52 attacked, I lost the only disabled hero I ever connected with both Dick and Barbara starting acting horrible to one another it was a bad time. I love Dick and Babs as Nightwing and Oracle but once Babs became Batgirl the relationship soured for me the fandom would often try and erase Barbara as Oracle I remember someone drew art of Batman Hush and the only thing they changed was Babs was Batgirl not Oracle.
So, I guess DC ruined that pairing fandom just helped ruin it by pretending their new 52/rebirth interactions were well written.
7.Is there anything you used to like, but now can’t stand?
I used to like Nightwing but haven’t liked the way he’s been written since 2014.I used to love Barbara but then the new 52 ableism train rolled in and we lost a disabled icon. (I’m not even going to mention Burnside or Rebirth). Also, I like Damian Wayne but Dc are now over using him while neglecting the other Bat family members. None of these things are the characters faults it’s the people behind the characters that are making me dislike them.
8.Unpopular opinion about DC fandom?
I don’t like the what the fandom treats the characters. All the characters are just bent completely out of shape to fit in with some pre-existing trope like Dick being a player or a ray of sunshine who is never unhappy or Babs being a bitch all the time when she was Oracle which just isn’t true. Also, I see people who try far too hard to make a character fit in with their sexuality or ethnic headcanons while actual LGBT and minority characters are ignored and then fandom kicks up a fuss when these characters’ books are cancelled but turns out they weren’t reading these books because they were reading books about their favourite white people. This isn’t specific to Dc it kind of goes for all fandoms across the board.
10.Any fandom you’re ashamed of being in?
No not but I suppose I don’t take part in fandom all that much, I’ve been on this website since 2009 and have never overly engaged in any fandom I more just stay on the edge of the fandom and talk to four or five people who have similar ideas I do.
