A "pedagogue" gived me some tips when I dissociate I'd like to share with you and your followers, I think it may works when wanting to self harm, needing to feel alive, anxiety.. : a "spiky massage ball" you can press and rub against you (not just feet and hand); plasticine; an elastic wristband (except if you (had) self harm); smelling lavender essence; ice; heat; carrying smthg in yr pocket (rock...). Anythg that makes you feel in security. Takes time finding the right thg. Hope it can help!
Yes! I’ve heard of most of these. I have I tag ‘lets_cope’ that has a bunch of alternatives. I’m going to keep this message in there.
Like you said, careful with the elastic wristband / rubber band esp. if you have a history of self injury.
Other things I like: tiger balm (or icy hot or biofreeze) and exfoliating in the shower!!
Do you have any suggestions for what to do when you need to take your mind off something? Like if you're having a bad day, are there any websites to go visit? I don't really know what I'm asking for, but something that's uplifting and distracting. Thanks.
