Wow friends... I cannot believe how positive the response from my last post was! It’s one of the few times that the Instagram algorithm worked in my favor and not only did it get tons of engagement, but all you people were INCREDIBLY sweet and encouraging. “Thank you for your kindness” . This is my #Homwork for week 40, an assignment from a guest teacher, Chantal Psota Ball (@psotaball, who launched a challenge #LetsBeAllies): to create a thank you note for someone you appreciate. . Here my gratitude is not to the particular indivisuals, but to every single person who was kind, nice, and/or respectful to me at any occasions, at any levels. . . . . This assignment made me reflect a lot. (I am a terrible writer…, so please bear with me.) I grew up where being kind, nice, and respectful to others is something “normal” or “you should be”. By living abroad I learned it is not always the case, and I accepted it as a difference, not good or bad. But at one particular place when I witnessed kindness is not even appreciated, it was eye-opening… well, really shocking to me: Some people who consider kindness as “weakness”. Some people arrogantly laughed at me as if I am doing something totally useless. Others took advantage of it. Even though I was expecting absolutely nothing in return, I was sad and angry. Eventually I learned to let go, but there’s no way I could integrate in that society. It indeed was “A sane person to an insane society must appear insane. - Kurt Vonnegut ” experience. I am a firm believer of kindness.
