China is another vast place in wich many other monsters live alongside the everyday human. Now as its said, China is a very traditional place the monsters are just the same. Many of their monsters have animal backgrounds and are often unholy mixes of such. Shen: This monster is a shape shifter. It's main form is a sea monster that creates elaborate illusions or a shape shifting dragon and is often associated with funerals. There are three types of these sea monsters that change their form over a period of time. It is said thanks to these variations of swallows and sparrows, bats and oysters, that they also have the capability of their illusionary magic. Jiangshi: These little buggers are mixes that are vampire and zombie. Their name translates to rigid bodies and their sole purpose is to absorb the qi of the living and killing them in the process. These creatures can also breathe life into inanimate bodies along side making one from bones and rotted flesh. They are souls that cant leave the body because of being murdered/suicide or misbehavior as a living being. These ghoulish creatures sleep in their coffins or hide in the dark. Some can even be found in caves. Common characteristics of these creatures are red eyes, sharp claws and a green skin tone. Ao Yin: This bull is a legendary creature within China's old bestiaries. Xiezhi: This creature is a cross between a unicorn and a dragon with the ability to tell the difference between right and wrong. That being said it is a righteous creature and will wipe out the wrong doer by either goring them or biting them. In stories it is known to butt into the guilty party with it's horns.
