We’re not into them like that where we actually accept them for who they really and truly are. We’re not willing to love them in ALL of their expressions and desires. Not really. We really love them for how they can fit into our idea of what a relationship should be and look like. We love them for upholding whatever fantasy we have about relationships or marriage. It’s not a judgment because we’re all wired that way to a degree, but it’s beneficial to at least acknowledge and not pretend like we have a profound love for our partners when we don’t. How can we when we don’t have a profound love of ourselves. You have to 100% accept and love yourself in order to 100% accept and love others. It’s just the truth. Every wonder why so many relationships and marriages fail or are dysfunctional? It’s because we’re all relating with people (ourselves included) who don’t love or even like one another. If I don’t love you, I won’t be able to truly trust and confide in you with my deepest feelings, thoughts, desires, and fears.
