There are two ways in which you can discover a person’s true character, even when they’ve tried so hard to hide the traits. The first is kindness, which in a kind person is repaid. The second is kindness when the result becomes anything but kind. And it is the second method that is most often found, and most often feared, and most often experienced.

When things start to come apart maybe the main thing we need is a friend. Someone to hold you at your weakest, someone to pick you up when you can’t move, someone to be there when there’s no one, someone who catches you even if it hurts them. I think you’re going to be the thing that keeps me together.
