Letter #12 - CRAZY week! - 1.21.2015
Hello all the people that I love, I want to apologize that I can't write you all super great personal emails, it's probably pretty lame that you get this general one to all of you. But if it makes you feel any better, I love all of your personal emails to me
This week was CRAZY. We traveled around the whole mission basically. We had "return and report" which is where we go to the office and president talks with all the new missionaries from the day I came in to check up on us. The president always gives us really good food. Hermana Bluth talked to us about Choose thy Love and Love thy Choice. That you chose to serve a mission and no one else did for you and that you have to learn to love the mission and stick to your task til it sticks to you, that is a poem that is really good.
We had zone conference, intercambios that I already told you about and our mission activity. I have never seen so many missionaries in my life as at our mission activity, actually it was about the same as the Mexico MTC. We played sports all day. It was a blast, but I do not think the sun is as strong anywhere in the world as it is here, I swear. Luckily Hermana Bluth had sunscreen- what an angel. We got t-shirts for our zones and we did a huge chant for ours. We did the Hawaiian Haka for our chant and painted our faces and my companion and I painted our faces. It was so fun! We watched "Meet the Mormons" in Spanish and I've seen it twice so I knew which parts to laugh in so that people thought I knew what was going on -hahaha.
It's a bummer to not have a letter from Jessica. I'd love to hear how she's doing. I love hearing from you all. It is really a highlight of my week, because I like to know what is going on in your lives. It is so cool to be serving with Jessica. I want to know what being a mission nurse is like. Our mission nurse is over our mission and the Concepcion Mission so she always has her phone. She is kinda like our advisor whenever we are sick in any way she tells us what to do. She's been here for a long time and is in her 70's I think.
Here is a rough story, we were in the house of a man we taught a lesson to once, and he has pictures of The Savior plastered all over his wall, but he is Athiest. We invited him to pray with us in that moment on our knees about if God exists, because he will not do it on his own. We all kneeled down and he started to pray mocking God and saying how beautiful we are. We stood up and said thank you for his time and left the house without another word. It was very sad, because I really wanted him to just try. I knew that he could feel the Spirit too.
I have been pretty homesick this past week because I miss America and my sweet family. But I've prayed a lot! I've gained more and more of a testimony of prayer. One of the elders in our Zone does themes for our meetings and gives us all themed names. One time my name was Pembertonaka the Somoan version of my name and another time he did Ninja Turtle names Pembertonangelo.
We have an investigator who is keeping our commitments. When we taught him about the Great Apostasy he told us that he feels like he is in an apostasy right now. This week we have camios so we will see if i still have the same companion, I think I will though.
Spanish Word of the week: Genial it is like Cool or the British version Brilliant
Scripture: My favorite scripture these days is in Mosiah 3 I don't remember which verse it is in but it is the one about The natural man. I am learning a lot about the natural man.
Challenge: I'm following up! Who was actually off of technology for a whole day other than Jessica cuz she is on a mission? hahaha other than Luke too because he is a baby.
Nicole, Your favorite Missionary in the Family
P.S. Please write me an email of only questions if you want me to answer them in this email because I don't know what you all want to hear about.
