So, head-canon for Gurple (Pie and Lettuce from Tokyo Mew Mew and my OTP):

When Pie and Lettuce get married, they find they have a small issue in finding a mattress on earth because Pie is just so darn tall and most of the population of Japan, well, isn't. They decide to buy a mattress anyway, but Pie's feet stick out at the end, even with the blankets and everything. And of course Lettuce feels bad and worries that he's going to be cold all the time, so she knits Pie socks. Lots of socks. Like, so many socks he can wear a pair a day for an entire year without repeating and she still is making more. She makes thinner socks for the summer and thicker ones for the winter. All sorts of patterns and colors. And Pie loves it, in his subtle, seemingly emotionless way. Like, to the point that when Lettuce brings up getting a new mattress, or importing one from another country, he finds all sorts of excuses as to why they shouldn't (too much going on at the moment, not enough money, etc.) just so she'll keep knitting him socks.

In other words, Pie is a free elf, er, alien. Elfish-looking alien.
