Bodyguard - a Leverage double drabble for @duckprintspress' May Trope Mayhem 2025

Sophie is cranky.

Of course she doesn't show it - her current persona, the Lady Charlotte, Absolutely Genuine Duchess of Hanover, is not cranky, and therefore Sophie is smiling brightly and laughing along with the other guests at the party. It does not, however, change the fact that Sophie is feeling cranky. Usually she is much better at method-acting her way out of a bad mood!

Next to her and just a step behind her, Tara smiles at the man they are supposed to be robbing, whose sole attention is on Tara as Sophie's bodyguard instead of on Sophie herself! She is wearing silk and pearls, and yet that man is focused solely on Tara's bodyguard persona in a boring, plain black suit!

Not that Sophie can actually blame him. Tara looks gorgeous in black, looks gorgeous in anything really, and that's the problem, isn't it? That Tara would look good in a potato sack while Sophie has to deck herself out in fancy clothes and jewels and still doesn't even come close.

That, and the way that Sophie wants to pull Tara away to a private corner to have her way with her, an urge so compellent it's almost distracting her from their mission - that is definitely also a problem.
