Nightmare is grumpy, Killer is helping him relax by giving him a little massage.

- Little Moon ? You're in there ? Killer called, looking throught the cracks in the grotto's walls.
Their little octopus, Nightmare, had been hiding all day. Dream told them it was normal, he usually got moody during the new moons and liked hiding in tight places, but Killer didn't like that, if the little octopus felt bad he wanted to be able to help him, not just watch and be powerless.
- Nightmare ? Come on, show your pretty face.. ! He whined.
Was he even in the grotto or was he somewhere else ? Did he find a spot outside of their nest ? Killer hoped not, even if Nightmare was a powerful leviathan he was still weak, he hadn't recovered entirely from his injury: there had been a reason why Killer and his mates had tried so hard to catch the two leviathans, they were weak and malnourished, they wanted to help them but they kept swimming away. Until Nightmare got badly hurt, a mine exploded next to him, taking away half of his skull in the blow. His body had recovered by wrapping him in black goop, but the octopus was still very tired and his magic was still weak, it was best for him to stay in the nest, especially if the new moon messed with him as his twin said.
- I've got you some clams ? He tried, having chosen the biggest clams he could find, well, big for the octopus at least.
Killer eventually saw a little black head poking throught a crevasse, followed by a tentacle with glowing purple suckers. He knew Nightmare couldn't resist his favorite snack.
- Ah ! There you are ! Killer smiled, holding out a finger for him to cling to. Come out ? Please ?
Nightmare stared at him, squinting his one purple eyelight.
- Clams first.
- Promise you won't just hide again once you have them ?
Nightmare didn't answer, though Killer was sure he heard him growl.
- Please ?
The octopus sighed.
- Fine.
He finally stretched out his tentacle, wrapping it around the shark's finger and pulling himself out of his hole to climb on his hand, the tiny suction cups sticking to Killer's palm to ensure stability. Killer smiled, letting him get installed before giving the clams that Nightmare quickly took between two tentacles. He didn't pay much attention to Killer from that point, more focused on opening his snacks.
Killer let him enjoy his clams, going to lay on the sand to be comfortable, he used that time to inspect his tentacles and body. Nightmare still had scars, the tentacles he lost had regrown but there were still cuts on his back. Killer sighed, he didn't like seeing his little Moonlight hurt.
He gently pat his back with a finger, the octopus shot him a quick look but decided he wouldn't stop him, having more important to do. With that silent permission, Killer continued to pet, going lower until he reached the tentacles. He stopped for a second, but seeing it didn't seem to bother the owner of said tentacles he kept going, gently petting and squeezing the chubby appendages. He liked how squishy Nightmare's flesh was, it was like a little stress ball. He took one tentacle between his fingers, gently kneading in with his thumb, massaging the muscles to prevent future soreness. The tentacle moved, allowing Killer to run his finger on the underside, making Nightmare shiver: Killer knew it was a good spot to scratch, the suckers were more sensitive than the back of the tentacle and sand always got stuck in between the cups, so a little scrubbing here was always welcomed.
Killer smiled, seeing the little octopus stretch his tentacles, no doubt wanting the massage to continue and extend to the other appendages as he finished his clams.
- Was the meal to you liking ?
- Hmm.. he grumbled, laying down on the big palm, it was okay...
The megalodon chuckled.
- Do you want to go back to your hole now ? He teased, already knowing the answer.
Nightmare growled, staying right where he was laying on his stomach, he looked away to hide the faint blush on his cheek.
- You started it you finish it. he ordered as a new tentacle wrapped itself around Killer's finger.
- On it boss ! He joked at he resumed the little massage.
The little octopus was exigent, but it was all worth it for Killer because he got to enjoy the sight of his tiny Moonlight purring on his hand as he kneaded his tentacles, and this was priceless.
Ya know, this is actually the third year that I've drawn for MerMay. Its actually kinda fun to keep drawing this particular story. And no one's noticed that they are all part of the same storyline. Though, I don't blame anyone for not noticing. The first two are kinda obscure and it hasn't really progressed to the point of actually knowing what's going on. But it has been rather fun to me.
Edit: I forgot the bubbles when I initially posted. The whole reason for why I draw on my XP Pen tablet connected to my computer because I have that bubble brush. lol
Also, if anyone's wondering why no Cross or Dream, Cross went with Dream to protect him while he sunbathes. And if anyone is also wondering where Lucida is, she's behind the point of view with Nightmare. Another thing too, you can't see it very well, but Dust is holding one of his skeleton fish buddies.
Oh, and fun fact, Auberon's circlet usually has moonstone as the gem, but I decided that in this au its a pearl instead. Probably no one would have noticed tho.
Edit: Let me retag some people to show the difference: @lizzie-tempest @aylish91 @coffeeandbooks-off @dawnpool-works @miracle-negative
Commission for @aylish91 for their Guardians of the Deep!! Thank you so much for supporting me! It was an absolute pleasure working with you on these two <3
Just a little drabble I made of a version of Leviathantale. I hope people like it.
Was this what it was like to die?
That was his thought as he sank into the dark waters below. The family he thought he had, they were all just lies. Used until he was no use anymore because of who he once was. Who he had left behind on the mainland when he joined Gaster and his crew of pirates. But that was what he was used for. A bargaining chip in some ploy to gain money and favors out of the family he abandoned. He never told anyone of his royal heritage, but somehow the captain knew. He acted like a caring father to him, and when the money and favors dried out...
It was amazing how fast a life can pass before one's eyes as they die. The betrayal of the captain as he revealed his birth name and the reason he was kept on the ship. The jeering of the crew he once thought of as brothers and sisters calling for his death. It was a crime to them to be born royal. Even if he rejected that life. Gaster himself pushed him off the plank, giving him a last chance to fight him, but he was too weak to defeat the captain. His magic was spilling out of him still, quickening his death in the sea. He could feel its cold tentacles wrap around him. Wait... No... He was really feeling tentacles around him. His instinct to fight made him flail in their grasp, but he was too weak to fight back.
"I would rather you not fight little minnow. It would quicken your death and make you just another dust cloud to feast upon by the small fish of the deep," a voice said. He froze.
"That's better," the voice said as a black face came into his sight. It's teal eye glowing in the darkness. "I am Nightmare. Tho, I guess greetings would be wasted if you just die on me." He pulls him close. "But you can live if your desire and hope is still there."
He wanted to live. He didn't want to die. His life had barely started and all because of his birth he was killed for. He wanted to live to be free of that past. He wanted to get revenge on the ship he thought was family.
Nightmare could seem to sense his will and emotions and chuckled. "Revenge and a desire to be free. I believe I can offer that," he said as he caressed his cheek. "But in exchange for a new life, I need something in return. Loyalty, obedience, and most of all, your knowledge of the world above. Do you agree or would you rather I end your life now?"
He wanted to say yes, but no words would come out. He didn't care he would have to be this abyssal's being slave. Just as long as he could live again. He just wanted to live. He nodded his head at Nightmare.
And Nightmare grinned. "It is a deal then. This might hurt a bit."
He reached into his chest and pulled his dusting SOUL out, sending magic into it as he kissed him at the same time. Pleasure and pain were what he felt and he couldn't even scream. Bones were shifting, everything was getting brighter, teal and purple magic surrounded his body as he heard bones crack below his waist.
Soon the feeling faded away, and with that the feeling of his legs. Now he felt something else, something new. A tail. He gasped as he took his first breath under water, not sure how exactly he was able to do it. He looked at himself in wonder. And ended up upside down since he didn't know how to use his tail yet.
Nightmare laughed. "Well, a shark on its belly, what a funny sight. You'll fit in with the rest of the shiver at least. But for now, we should complete our greetings shouldn't we. What is your name?"
He was able to right himself and felt his tail. It was powerful and strong. He could feel the power in it. He looked at Nightmare and bowed his head.
