leviathan series semester abroad au:
this could go one of two ways:
maybe alek is, let’s say, an international business major and is required to spend at least one semester abroad to complete his degree.
or Dylan is majoring in german language and is also required to spend at least one-two years in a german speaking country in order to complete his degree.
either way Alek and Dylan end up at the same university and, more specifically, as roommates
it was an accident actually: Dylan was originally supposed to room with either Newkirk or Bauer and Alek was supposed to have bought out his dorm room so he didn’t have to share, but, or the sake of plot, something with wrong and the two ended up at reluctant roommates.
They didn’t get along at first: Alek being unhappy about having to share and, if i’m being completely honest, a brat about the situation. Dylan’s constant sarcastic jabs don’t help the situation much either.
but maybe one day Dylan comes back from class to see Alek crying, holding a picture of himself and two older people.
“My parents,” he says in a harsh tone, and it’s painfully obvious that he’s trying not to cry more. The way he says it, that fresh type of pain and mourning, is all too familiar to Dylan.
But Dylan isn’t really sure what to do in this situation. he’s never been good with emotions. He sits down next to alek on his bed and tries to think of what Jaspert would say if he were there, or, better yet, what Jaspert had said to him when their da died.
“I know what you’re going through,” dylan says softly. There’s a moments pause before Alek answers and the air is tense.
“Aye, me da died about two years ago.” he replies then after a moment “exactly two years ago next month.”
they have an open and tender moment between them, and talk about their dead parents. they talk about the good memories (alek traveling with his father and his mother teaching him to play piano, dylan’s dad taking him up in his plane for flights and letting him pretend to be the pilot) and the bad (alek missing his father when he was away on business, the way his extended family would whisper about him and his mother behind their backs and how dylan’s dad saved his life).
they become fast friends after that: alek helping dylan with his german and dylan helping alek to open up.
they become boyfriends even faster than that
