Dragons and cat-like behavior

Levitas/Winchester wip! ive decided to model them after passenger/racing pigeons and courier horses, but im not sure what to do abt the tail :/ i feel like it should be short and kinda stubby for less drag in flight, but i cant quite figure out a posing that feels right for it yet. oh well

Im also thinking of drawing some of me ideas for a modern au Temeraire. the dragons are given like. plane armor complete with mini “cockpits” for their captain/crews? and high altitude adjustable helmets + rocket boosters for accelerated height. also I feel like Iskierka plays 2000s club music at max volume through comms during dogfights (Granby does his level best not to go deaf and hoarse yelling their orders over her music). and sweet darling Temeraire has two different podcasts going at all times, on low volume because he’s considerate about his crew and wants them to be well-educated about the wonderful world they live in while they can still hear it (Laurence doesnt have the heart to tell him it puts him and half the crew to sleep 90% of the time either way, so their hearing isnt reaaaally that much of a concern)

So, we’ve been keeping a secret…

Two secrets to be more precise.

Levitas has friends!

Temeraire has been around for several months now and I just finished volley a few days ago.

They are not to scale with each other as was my original plan, entirely because I just didn’t enjoy it. Temmy went through 3 different bodies before I decided to make him much smaller than I had been making him, and he turned out so much nicer than any of the previous attempts. Although- I’m not quite sure how Volley ended up being bigger than Levi. Volley did also get his very own scarf because both Levitas and Temmy have accessories and I didn’t want him to feel left out.

Fucked up thing I just realised, Levitas was at least a decade older than Temeraire, Rankin says he was a Courier since 12, and everything I’ve seen so far suggests Courier dragons generally only have their captain crewing them, so since age of 12 Rankin has been like that. Unless there was a (brief) period when he was younger and was kinder before settling into his families mentality.

Could explain why Levitas is so loyal, he still remembers the twelve year old who fed him his first meal.
