1st month reviews of The Moon Blessed King

It's been just over 1 month since The Moon Blessed King released and concluded The Tale of Two Crowns duology. So far the feedback has been amazing!!! I'm so glad to have been able to bring this book to the world, and that it's brought so many people joy. The Tale of Two Crowns is an political fantasy in a queer normative world with a very slow burn MM relationship (don't look for a romance in book one!) It follows Cat, a Reaper who can kill with a single touch, Elician and Fenlia, two givers who can heal wounds and bring the dead back to life, as they try to bring peace to their continent where war has waged between their countries for as long as any can remember. With each country supporting either the goddess of death or the god of life, reaching common ground requires finding the balance between transition and change. Book One: The Sun Blessed Prince Book Two: The Moon Blessed King Both now available worldwide! You may like if you enjoy: found families, cultural (not personal) enemies to lovers, coming of age (for Fenlia), hurt/comfort, life/death magic, and the best of friends.

In the daring sequel to The Sun Blessed Prince, Elician and Cat must confront the goddess of death to save their nations – unless it's already too late. Elician, a Giver with the power to raise the dead, is crowned King of Soleb, but it’s forbidden for Givers to rule. However, Elician is determined to end a generations-long war with the kingdom of Alelune – and will marry Alelune's rightful heir to do so. But Cat is a Reaper, able to kill with a touch, and is therefore feared by his own people. His claim to the throne is a gamble at best, until his tyrannical brother, Gillage, seizes power before Cat can lay his claim to it – and now the conflict Elician had hoped to avoid seems inevitable. Just as the war between nations begins anew, the goddess of death releases a devastating plague across the continent. I don't think Tolkien is a good fantasy writer because he scored the highest at some objective Best Fantasy Book Test that every fantasy writer has to take, I think he's a good fantasy writer because he created a world based on things that he was interested in. I feel like a lot of fantasy writers think that they need to create a whole language for their world because Tolkien did and obviously his books are the best so they have to emulate him, but Tolkien did that because he was a linguistics nerd. I think the lesson to be learned from him is not that you have to include elves and deep history and new languages, but that you have to write endlessly about the things you are a huge nerd about and use those things to create your fantasy world

I’m a huge medical history nerd and Tale of Two Crowns is absolutely riddled with philosophy of science technology and medicine.

And queerness. Because well. I’m that kind of nerd I guess.

I just got my author copy of Moon Blessed King and finally get to share it and my dedication with everyone. Written during Covid, this book (and series) was my way of grappling with the concepts of life and death when there was simply so much death happening everywhere book. It could only ever have been dedicated to one group of people - the front line workers and first responders who carried the heaviest burden of the pandemic.
