I used some slightly damaged, whoops wrong side of the backing misprinted paper home made bookcloth to cover the whole thing so I won't show some angles but on the whole, not actually difficult! Just ignore all the glue splodgings, working this small is harder than a regular book size

Print testing and discovering the 230gsm card I bought does not like ink. Now I'm just scavenging any sketchbook paper that's not penetrated through with ink and I've run out and the printer decided to cut one side short aaaaahhhhh

I started a thing on May 2 during Malaysia's partial plague lockdown part 2 with the Entrails pattern from @shitpostsampler aka now I remember why outlining is magic and motherfucking backstitching and I was dreading the halo but it was really fucking soothing?

Been doing this on and off after we got back into work, cause newspaper y'all.

Anyways, here’s part 1 of the progress shots.

Me, doing the 7th part of the @shitpostsampler mystery stitch along: ...shit....did I just fantastically drop a stitch by crossing it over two entire squares onto the wrong hole and only realised when I had already sewn the end of that particular floss under and trimmed it, as I was about to start on a new colour...?

Me, attempts to summon energy to rip out the whole damn strand and redo it with a new piece of floss; fails.

Me, stares at floss threader and cross stitch needle for a long tired moment.

Brain: HOOK IT LIKE THOSE CROCHET VIDEOS.

Me: ...wait...wait....you mean....insert the needle.....backwards? Then use the threader to pull in the now too short floss? And then pull it through the correct hole with the needle???

A minute later: HOLY SHIT IT WORKS I DON’T HAVE TO WASTE FLOSS ANYMORE AND I CAN TUCK THE TRIMMED OFF END BACK UNDER THE OTHER STITCHES ON THE BACK!

Finished this year's @shitpostsampler mystery stitch along! Spot the one extra stitched square error and ignore the pencil marks; I sized it incorrectly initially.

How to DIY a needle minder from shit lying around your house:

1) Discover that your cod liver oil capsule bottle caps are in fact soft enough to be ripped apart with your Leatherman Juice pliers.

2) Get excited and rip up more

3) FOLD DOWN THE SHARP EDGE BY STABBING THAT SUCKER WITH THE BLUNT END OF THE PLIERS

4) Repeat. Rehydrate. Repeat.

5) Make an invisible grid on a Word doc and adjust size of preferred design to fit. (3cm in my case)

6) Get to trimming and move shit around, culminating in a silent scream when you decided you should make two minders at once and moved the still superglue drying minders too close to each other *dramatic whoosh and clack as magnetic forces apply*. Wait until superglue is dry before wrenching them apart.

7) Remember to score the smooth surface for better adhesion! Modpodge the shit outta that and remember to get the edges too!

8 & 9) Hawkeye target and a smol Faa-san design I promised my friend I’d mak (they sent me the design).

10) The underside, not the prettiest but as long as the superglue holds and fingers don’t get cut....

I decided to Speedrun the 2023 stitch along but this time with the actual cited colours so 3 and a half hours later with an hour's break in-between:

I consider this a rather simple pattern and it still took me this long; people who complain about how expensive hand sewn and hand embroidered and hand made stuff in general need to STFU
