A traveling snake oil (or in this case furniture polish) salesman is mistaken for an Inspector General by corrupt town officials. Funnier than i had any idea it’d be, from the shooting the bird out of the sky in the beginning, to the dude trying repeatedly to resign, those twins, and all of #DannyKaye’s facial expressions. It made me think of a disney classic made in live action, or that it could’ve been animated and been just as, if not funnier, that it already was, given the limitation of real people and effects at the time. I liked how the music and Kaye’s facial expressions/movement mimiced each other, the guy on the left in the band when we first meet Yakov and Georgi, Georgi trying to give that little old lady her money back, the throwing of the glasses into the fire, the scene in the military training class when Georgi’s trying to escape that guy with the eye patch, hiding everyone in his room, the line about the doctor who hadn’t seen a patient in years because he was near sighted, Georgi singing with three other versions of himself (Kaye did all of his singing himself....dude) and those curls and that military uniform on Georgi.
