H.M.S. Ceres at top, a light cruiser of the Royal Navy saw service from 1917 to 1945. She saw service in home waters as well as the Mediterranean based at Malta. At bottom is a landing party from the Ceres ca. 1920s. While most large vessels had a complement of Royal Marines, most also kept kit like you see above to expand the Marines with ship’s personnel. I find it interesting to see these men with leggings, 1919 webbing and Lewis Guns. Notice the mascot, back row!
