oskar: first mclean boy, look at these photos from back home! my great-grandmother sent them to me.
lex: ooh, i love — ( gasps ) are those chickens? i love chickens!
louis: ugh, seriously?
lex: sorry.
louis: it’s whatever. we’re running out of people to sell them to, anyway. i tried to get errol to buy mine, but apparently toto got tickets for them. how the hell does an imaginary friend manage to get concert tickets?
lex: uh... magic?
louis: maybe, who even knows at this point?
lex: and then --- and then --- oskar’s chickens started pecking him and some of them even grabbed the coins!
adwyn: what?! what did they do with them?
lex: i think oskar said they took them to the chicken coop an the pen. he still finds random coins there from time to time.
adwyn: lex... what are you doing here?
lex: looking for you. i was worried.
adwyn: worried?
lex: gwen called, she said you were missing, so i got worried.
adwyn: oh...
lex: she also said you were sad about something. what’s wrong?
adwyn: it’s... it’s not a big deal.
lex: hello!
gwen: lex, is adwyn with you?
lex: no, random stranger!
gwen: ( sighs ) it’s gwen. now answer my question.
lex: oh! nope, i haven’t seen her! why dost thou ask?
louis: oh, lex, you’re back! i need your extra ticket.
lex: uh.................
louis: what?
lex: i lost it.
lex: addie... please don’t cry. you’re smart. so smart.
adwyn: ( sniffs ) i’m really not.
lex: you are. leif always says that different people are smart at different things. like... they’re good at math and science, i’m good at sports, louis is creative and good at persuading people. you... you’re nice, even when people aren’t nice to you, and you’re good with food and i’ve seen you help leif treat people in the nurse’s office sometimes... i don’t know how to do that.
adwyn: ...really?
lex: really-really.
adwyn: ( sob ) thank you.
