lexi tried desperately to start her car again, letting out a whine when the engine simply sputtered and died - this would happen on one of the rainiest days of the year, wouldn’t it? still a mile and change away from work and her car broke down. she was glad she’d worn her galoshes today at least. grabbing her purse from the passenger seat, she threw it over her shoulder and tugged her raincoat back on over it, zipping it and pulling the hood up before she climbed out of the car and locked it. she’d have to call a tow truck when she got to the bar.
crossing her arms tightly and keeping her head down, she hurried to the side of the road and started the trek through the downpour to the bar. she thanked every higher power that she’d left home early today, so she wouldn’t be too late, and that the roads weren’t terribly busy so she was less likely to get doused by a passing car splashing through a puddle.
