STEVEN UNIVERSE SPOILERS BELOW i'm sorry i'm on mobile and can't do a read more, will either edit/delete tomorrow i just okay so don't get me wrong, i love Ruby and Sapphire. they are adorable and i'm so glad they exist but in Hit The Diamond all their constant flirting and stuff just came off a little awkward??? to me??? idk maybe it's just because personally, to me, relationships where one person is dependent on and seemingly can't survive or be their own person without the other is just. the kind of people i don't really get (or generally want to associate with in most cases tbh). like the episode started off great, with Ruby and Sapphire encouraging each other but still being two separate characters (who support each other in a healthy relationship way), but then it just devolved from there into them barely being able to maintain an important cover because they couldn't stay away from each other. like in the motel episode i felt like there was a great establishing of the characters as their own beings who are in a good healthy relationship (even if they were in a fight at the time), the manifestion of which is Garnet, but this kind of just. undid a lot of that for me. and obviously some parts of this could be because, clearly, they're aliens. alien relationships and love is prolly different but if the writers of the show are still trying to have it translate to real world relationships, then that just fell short for me in this instance. and then again, for storytelling purposes, the undoing of their "covers" by Ruby and Sapphire fusing again worked and was comical, but for actual character purposes... ehhhhhh?? also i get they're prolly not used to being unfused much at all but. still. you'd think they'd both have a little more focus for such a seemingly important scenario??? idk this is just how i felt though. overall i still loved the new eps and it was all super cute and it's late and i just wanted to get this off my chest phew
PHEW finally queued a bunch of stuff that i was hoarding in my drafts.............
